"Just Beachy" Beach Hopping - Exercise Challenge

Get out your grass skirts and your lei's! We're gearing up for another trip!

This time, we are going on a beach hop, where we get to travel to the world's best beaches!

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8..._471_13958.gifHere's how it works:http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8..._471_13958.gif

All of the beach hop's fly out of our nation's capital Washington DC. No fear! You don't have to "pay" for the flight to DC!

Each week a new post will be made with that week's destination beach, some pretty pictures of where you're going and the mileage of the flight from DC to that destination.

Your job is to make one post that you'll edit for that entire week (otherwise the team leaders will have to merge all your separate posts) and post your exercise for that week. For every minute you exercise it will count as a mile towards the flight time.

In the beginning the flights will be short to give everyone a chance to get into the routine of exercising, but as the challenge moves forward, the flights get longer!

If you exercise all of the miles of the flight to the beach, you get a little badge which looks like this http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...54_23053-1.gif (in your team color!) in a separate thread. (I'll be adding the badges to your post during and at the end of the week.) Your mission is to collect 15 badges to compete for the grand prize!

Whichever team has the majority percentage of people with 15 badges wins the grand prize!

The grand prize is a 2 lb pass for the final weigh in! The pass is 2 lbs off the entire team's weight as a whole (not individual!) In the event of a tie, I'm going to ask one of the 3FC's (Suzanne or Jennifer) to pull a team from a hat.

Because I know it will be asked, I'll clarify: If members from your team end up leaving the TBL challenge, we will take in account all of the people that are still participating at the end of the 15th week.

If you exercise for more than the flight miles, it does not count towards extra badges, however your team leader may have some extra incentives to get you moving past the flight mileage listed for the week. :D

This challenge begins today! So don't wait... get moving! :running:

(Since I just realized I have to leave for class, the thread will be up in roughly 30 to 45 mins for questions. And the other threads will be created for you to start posting as well!)
:D

So.... week one we count our exercise from 4/30-5/3? That's only 4 days?

So glad I went to the Y today! :woohoo:

67 minutes a day?! I thought you said we were starting slow to get into the swing of things :( Sorry, Blue Team, but I can't go from 0 minutes a day to 67 a day (especially when I didn't even read the rules until 7pm on the start day).

Anyway, thanks for posting the challenge, and good luck to everyone!

Could you do 30 mins?

I didn't realize it was so many minutes a day, so I'm going to post a second option for just this week...

Unfortunately the closest beach on the list I have is Ocean City NJ which is 132 miles so it would be 33 mins a day

I noticed your post in the exercise thread about your badges.

I just want to clarify that I have the badges on my photobucket account, but I'll be posting your badges in your posts at the end of the week. This keeps that thread from getting bogged down with a bunch of crazy pictures.

Ok, call me dense, but when are we suppose to post our minutes? Do we do it daily or weekly? Do we count minutes starting today?
I'm totally confused :dizzy::?:

smurf2110 04-30-2008 08:02 PM

It doesn't have to be 67 mins every day, some days I can do 120 right?! Just so the total at the end of the week is right, right?

Well, after I left here all pissy about it and finished my whining, I decided I wasn't going to go down without a fight. I went and changed, put on my sneakers, and then took my most hyper puppy out for a 45-minute fast walk (she was panting to keep up with ME!) and then stopped home to switch pups and took the less hyper pup for a 25-minute walk. So i did it--I went from 0 minutes to 70 minutes today.

So, moral of the story: put that competitive spirit to good use!

Thanks, chelle!
