Progress is Good!

Good Morning Blue Team! And, Good Afternoon for everyone East of PST! Happy MLK, Jr Day to all!

I'm down 6.5lbs! :yay: me! It's amazing what a little healthy eating can do for you. OK, a lot of healthy eating. :)
To the 3FC experts, I want my ticker to show the .5 though. Anyone know how to do that?

Question of the Day:
Can I have a personal trainer who cooks on the side? I don't need to be trained for a full day, so 2 hrs of training and 3 cooked meals would do me just fine.
Really, I guess I'd like the motivation and :kickbutt: that I'd get from a trainer. I'd be too afraid to eat poorly with a trainer watching my every move, or at least seeing the end results of my diet.

I know, this sounds silly, but I don't know what else to try to get my head and my body working TOGETHER.

practiceliving: I don't think this sounds silly at all. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. I applaud you for wanting to have a better relationship with yourself. :cp:

On a side note, I plan to learn everyone's real names soon. I feel bad using the 3FC screennames.

Take Care Everyone and have a GREAT week!

I am so happy for you two and the new house. And I know you have a veggie-challenged DH, so good luck getting him to eat the broccoli!

Definitely trainer. I always have said that if we won the lottery, the first thing I would do was hire a personal trainer who would come to my house, drag my butt out of bed four mornings a week at 6:30 and work me so hard that I swore. I don't have trouble exercising, but I struggle with pushing myself. I need Jillian.

For those of you who want a chef, come to my house. We always have mega-healthy food. People marvel at the things my kids will eat. We just have too much. I have a fear of food and heat shortages. I always have a fully stocked pantry and at least two chests filled with blankets. Probably some past life thing.eat way too many carbs.

I just got How to Cook Everything Vegetarian, for any Mark Bittman fans who care. My biggest worry is that I am going to get too many calories from carbs. Granted they are whole, fiber-rich grains, but carbs nonetheless. We eat meat, but very sparingly and only from known sources. Looking into the legume-ish recipes.

Hey all, I would take the chef. I've never been interested much in kitchen detail and so I would like someone to do the cooking for me. I know that the root of dh's & my downfall is eating out (& the wrong things) 2 much.

I broke even this week, but that's ok. I'm weight lifting, so i know that I'm holding alot of water and building muscle which will MAJORLY help me in the weeks coming forward. So as they say on TBL, my big number is on the horizon!

My veggie challenged husband has openly admitted that he will eat steamed broccoli.... as long as it has cheese on it.

He also announced at lunch time that I'm supposed to attend a birthday party tonight at an all you can eat chinese buffet for his sister.

HELP! They have sushi but I'm not sure if thats going to be the wise choice being that last time I ate it I gained because of sodium. Any ideas before I head off to the troff?

So sorry I didn't get to personals yet... the website has been acting strange this afternoon. I sent out a reminder pm before it went crazy to those who hadn't posted their weights. Let's keep our fingers :crossed: that everyone weighs in!

Can you order off the menu instead of the buffet? That will do two things: 1) keep you from over-eating as there are no free refills on menu items 2) you will order something healthy and not be tempted by the trough.

Steamed veggies and rice always are an option. But not very celebratory. However, dieting is not about misery, you still have to live in the real world and should be able to eat well and feast well. The sauteed dishes like meat and pea pods or cashew chicken not that bad. The soups are filling and yummy, especially something with some bulk like wonton. Any of the fried meats are obviously out. Almost everything has soy sauce, so accept that there will be water weight for the next two days, and don't worry too much about it.

Goodluck! Your fingers will probably be puffy in the morning no matter what you choose.

I know the website was acting crazy like close to 2pm.

Chelle--how about Chicken & Broccoli or MooGooGaiPan (basically chicken & veggies in a clear sauce)?

chellez 01-21-2008 05:58 PM

thanks so much for the advice! I'll be back in a little while to report my results ;)

Hi everybody. I went to the gym for the second time today. I also signed up for a month just to make sure I go. But with my husband still at home at the time I need to go and a friend to yell at me if I don't I think I'll do fine. I'm not thrilled about having to shower there but I have to go to work right afterward so I'll get used to it. At that time of the morning there aren't very many people there which is nice. I just did cardio because I'm not sure of myself on the weight machines. But I'll get it.

I'd choose the personal trainer cause I need direction and someone to kick my butt. On the other hand it would be nice to have someone cook healthy balanced meals for me. Can I switch back and forth every day? lol.

Gotta go check my chicken.

Okay, an update on my FIL. They are going to try and take him off the respriator in the morning. I pray that the Lord's will be done. Please keep him in your prayers.

I'm so behind. I'll catch up at work tomorrow. My internet didn't work until just now. *whew* I got in just under the wire.

Sorry for the weight gain, ladies. I didn't weigh in this morning so I just went with Friday's weight. I went grocery shopping today, though, and didn't buy ANY trigger foods. So, this week is going to be a loss. :)

onthetee 01-21-2008 09:15 PM

Confession: I have not worked out in three days.

I suck.

It was so freaking cold here this weekend, I just wanted to nest. We did fun things as a family, but I could not make myself work out, which is really unlike me. By the time the kids were managed tonight, it was too late to get on the treadmill (it is currently in the baby's room).

I have hit my calorie target each day, and I have been extra careful, but I am really disappointed in myself.

zinkemomx2 01-21-2008 09:33 PM

If I counted correctly, so far 55 of 56 people have posted weigh in charts and 53 people have weighed in for week 1. I sent two people reminder pm's but I didn't take the time to see who hadn't posted their chart yet.

I hate to lose people so early in the challenge.

chellez 01-21-2008 09:48 PM

Ok so dinner tonight was not bad by standards...

I had two small plates so here we go: All of these are small small portions!

Plate 1:
5 small pieces of sushi
oyster (raw)
green beans
coconut curry chicken
chicken and broccoli

Plate 2:
4 small pieces of sushi
vegetable noodles
mixed vegetables
spring roll

all and all I don't think I did bad! :D
