  • First off I'd like to say great job RED TEAM on everyone's weight loss. Keep up the good work. I did good today, ate clean exercised, drank my water, and even tried my brussel sprouts that I bought this weekend....and I've come to the conclusion that I really don't like brussel sprouts.

Tera- you're an exercising machine! Keep up the hard work!

Taryn- I'd probably go with something grilled/sauce on the side. Trust your instincts if it sounds fattening-it probably is. Like Melissa said portion control is important.

Come on Red team!...lets kick some Blue Team Hiney
  • Morning everyone!

I just got done doing 20 minute Turbo Jam. It's getting harder and harder to get up in the mornings to workout. I just want to sleep in that extra half hour, but then I think about how great I'll feel after a nice workout.
  • Ugh ladies I'm running so late today!!! I'll have to be back later for personals!! I just had to wish everyone a FANTASTIC day!!! Way to go on a Red team WIN!!!!

Be good!!! Make it a RED WINS day!!!
  • WTG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of each one of you for working hard and kicking some tail last week! You're all doing fantastic, and think of the changes you're making to your body! Even better!

Don't have time for personals now, trying to get my workout in before I gotta get going w/ the rest of the day. I had to come in tho and wish everyone a big congratz on a job well done!

Keep fighting the fight ladies, it looks good on you!!
  • Hi all!

Way to go RED TEAM!!!!!! Congrats!!!
  • Hello everyone!

First, Congratulations on being the Biggest Loser and Happy Birthday, Taryn! Have a wonderful and special birthday!

Gosh guys, we are all doing so great! I hope no one says I only lost 1 or 2 pounds ever again. Each little increment is necessary to get to our goals, please don't belittle yourself. And remember, as you get closer to goal, usually the losses start slowing down, so don't psych yourself out. I've been just maintaining my weight for a couple of months, because I decided ahead of time to let myself eat more "treats" over the summer but I would keep up the exercise and fitness goals. That way I didn't feel defeated and give up and I even lost a bit in inches (and can do way more push-ups than before).

Okay, I have to concentrate on drinking enough today. I didn't yesterday and then had to take an antihistamine for my allergies in the middle of the night. Woke up feeling absolutely parched, which is not good.

I have a date with Little Leslie now to do some walk and kick or something.
  • Red Team, I am so sorry I forgot to weigh in yesterday! My baby has been sick, but is feeling a lot better now and I really didn't have time to check in here much. I will be more active from now on.

I am down 3 pounds since I started the challenge though and that makes me pretty happy. I went running this morning. I am recovering from a ankle injury, and was doing the couch to 5k runnng plan. I got up to 25 minutes of running when I was injured. I'm at around 15-17 minutes now. Anyway, it was a good workout and the weather is lovely

Veggielady, good for you for shaking off the urge to stay in bed. Sometimes it's so hard to get up in the morning!
  • Babygrant- one pound is great! It's a loss and that's what counts!
likenoother- 2 lbs is perfect, please don't put it down! Everyone is doing so great!
    Bigmama-Woot!! Way to go!!
bee optomistic Could you maybe call the restaurant and see if they have an nutritional information sheet available at the restaurant? If not, maybe you could find their menu and look online to just get a general idea of how many calories, etc, are in whatever you plan to eat. I hope you come up with a solution and I hope you enjoy your birthday!
  • Confusion.... solved?
Ok I know that there's a large amount of confusion surrounding the Week 1 weigh in and I'm going to attempt to "come clean" if you will.

Melissa sent me a pm last night prior to the deadline for weigh ins and told me that she was trying to contact a participant by the screen name of Big Mamma that had posted in the Red Team chat thread that she had lost two pounds but forgot to post it on her weigh in chart. Evidently Melissa tried for the majority of the night but could not reach her. Being that she's new to the boards and the challenge, I was asked to make one exception for this week and let Big Mamma's 2 lb loss count in the Red Team weigh in even though it was not "officially" posted.

So because she was new to everything I said ok... but just this one person and this one time only.

It was brought to my attention that some of you are also tracking the weights in advance for different reasons. This is fine and well and if you want to know how each team is doing prior to the "official" postings be my guest. But I ask that you please keep the details as far as numbers private just because some of us like to wait til Monday night or Tuesday cause that's what we are used to.

I bent the rules for one person, and as some of you know all to well, I normally don't do that. Because of me making an exception, it bothered some, others didn't seem to notice. Either way I'm going to fix the situation.

Anyway, to make a long story short and to make things fair and right, I sent Melissa a PM reverting the OK I gave her earlier and explained to her that after long consideration I feel like Big Mamma should have to use a freebie week even though she posted in the wrong area because technically she did not officially weigh in. So hopefully things will be fixed or I will hear something this afternoon.

To make things clear, I have no interest as to who wins or loses the challenge this week. I've spent the majority of the day on this topic and its stressing me out and that's not my goal in any of this. Either way, I'm going to consider this week's weigh in null and void. If need be I will add an extra week to the end of the challenge if anyone wants to make it up in the end.

    Sorry about the confusion!

    Michelle
  • I'm sorry but people were upset by that is a bit silly. I'm all for a little fun competitiveness, but seriously this should be a FUN thing to help us all move along in our weight loss not cut throat who wins.

This actually makes me sad (and no I don't really care who won this week either) I will stick with this because I made a commitment to the red team but some of the joy has been lost...

I for one and happy for every pound everyone lost and I don't really feel good about this right now.
  • Muse, I understand what you are saying, but hear this out (I am playing "Devil's advocate here):

Let's remember that many people wanted the rules bent for them, (to allow them to join after the cut off date etc.) and it was determined that the rules were the rules, and no one complained that the choice made in that instance was "cut throat", did they?

I think that the decision to stay consistent is the only fair one.

Otherwise, why make it a competition at all? Why not just set up a (loosely structured) "goal" thread and let anyone come and go as they please, take weeks off when they feel like it etc.?

I am sure we all could come up with a valid reason over the course of the 12 weeks to not lose, to not check in, to post elsewhere, to take weeks off and so on.

I hope you understand where I am going with this. In all fairness to those who missed the initial deadline or had other issues, it is just the fair thing to do (sticking to the rules).
  • Okay...take the drama to PMs the issue has been solved, enough! Blue won this week by .01% but we get a 2 lb head start on next week! I'll take it! Red...we know we kicked BUTT this week and we'll do it again next week!

    ~melissa
  • Ann....Your posts are great!! Very motivational and very well stated! Thanks so much!!!

Leeda...things like that happen, thats why its nice to have freebies. Way to go on the loss!!! Excellent job!!! I'm really glad to hear your baby is feeling better!

Muse...we rocked last week!!! We had 5 lbs that didnt count on the weigh in so we know we kicked but regardless of what the official results say! We can celebrate that!

So I rode my bike to school for you guys!!! I was worried it was going to rain but didnt let it stop me!! It was rough! Cold this morning and had the wind in my face uphill the whole way there, coming home was much easier LOL!! I'm totally on plan and making my way towards my first RED WINS for the week!! Yay!!!

    How's everyone else doing?
  • Saw this on the Blackteam thread and wanted to share it so everyone could remember what the challenge is all about

"WOW, I'm glad we're not in the blue/red team challenge.. they are def. following by the "rules" and getting a lil bent outta shape over there. I'm just glad we're here for each other for support, not so much for "competition".-black team member
  • Support is great!

I support each team with their own rules and guidelines.

GO BLACK, RED AND BLUE Teams!!!

A (weight) loss for anyone is a loss for everyone!
