  • Quote: Leslie....21 lbs to onederland!! You can do it!!! I cannot believe your insurance weight up because of weight gain! Thats unreal! Not sure how I feel about that yet! LOL!! I could see 200 lbs maybe but 20!!
Up $90, too ! I could see smacking me with $20 or $30 as a little wake up call-- but $90 !!!!!?
  • Melissa - I have to agree about WW, just speaking personally. I know that it works for many, many people, and I would never question that. But for me personally, I need a WOE that will work for the rest of my life and I just can't imagine counting points or calories forever. You are doing great though!! And I am really looking forward to the challenges!

Leslie - $90 ... that bites. Stupid insurance company

Hi Kristi, I should follow your example and start doing those lunges & squats. Nothing is better for the butt!!
  • Kristi....isnt that the truth, we all need to think about how much the weight holds us back! Lunges and squats huh? You've got to have buns of steel girl! LOL!!! Keep up the GREAT work 21 lbs gone so far that is incredible!!!

    ~melissa
  • Leslie....WHAT?!?! $90!! and are they going to reduce it when you lose the 20 lbs? that is just wrong on so many levels!! But hey...it got you moving didnt it? And thats the most important part of it all!

Erika...thats how I want to look at things too, that I just make better choices, not that I'm on a diet. Now I know WW works, I've seen the results on too many people to say it doesnt. But I see myself seeing all that restriction and rebelling against it.

Off to make dinner! I think I'm going to try some butternut squash fries tonight I think. Saw it on someones site while researching WW. You cut up the squash in french fry shapes and bake em in the oven, supposed to be yummy!!

What are you having for dinner?

  • Hi everybody just wanted to pop in and say hello before I turn in for the night. I'm very excited about this challenge, and I can't wait to really get going. Hope you all had a wonderful day and hopefully tomorrow will be an even better one....it has to be its FRIDAY! GO RED TEAM GO!

  • Hi Sara!!!! I'm glad to see you are still fired up!!! Thank goodness its friday right!!! Keep up the great work!!!
  • Do you ever feel like some people take things entirely too seriously?

I just read this article about anti-obesity groups being upset that Shrek is being used as a spokesman for kids to exercise. Apparently the ads encourage kids to exercise at least an hour a day. And the anti-obesity groups dont like it because he is also used in conjunction with junk foods.

    Here are my feelings....
First of all....its an OGRE!! And a very popular one at that.

Second of all....the best way to get kids to listen is to use a well known face, this is simple marketing basics, everyone knows this right?

Third....I dont stand behind a campaign to tell kids never to eat any junk foods, I think moderation is the ideal lesson to be learned, that AND exercise.

and Finally (but probably not LOL) Shrek isnt some barbie, he doesnt have this adonis body, hes just an ogre! Isnt it a good idea to teach kids that good things come in all shapes and sizes?

I dunno, perhaps now I'm the one taking things too seriously but it just kills me sometimes to see what gets attacked and blamed for the obesity problem in our country. I say leave the big green guy alone!

  • Good Friday Morning RED TEAM!!!

I'm off on a field trip with my daughter which will entail hiking all day...how's that for some calorie burning! then afterschool we have a nature walk/treasure hunt at my other daughters school. Its a day for exercise!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a fabulous weekend. Its supposed to be beautiful here this weekend so I'm hoping to get out on the bike a couple of times.

Remember we start our RED WINS challenge tomorrow too!

    Have a great day everyone!!

  • Melissa, I agree with you about the Shrek thing. I can't see how any campaign to get kids to exercise would be a bad thing. Crazy.

Have fun with daughter on the field trip!

I will be out of town for the weekend. I am going to try to make good choices, it is really hard for me when I am out of town.

    Have a great weekend everyone!!!
  • Good morning red team!
Hope everyone is off to a great start on this beautiful Friday morning. I haven't put my exercise in yet, but I think i will throw the kids in the stroller and go for a walk. My neighbor and I are supposed to go shopping today, so that will be a bit more walking today.

Melissa-hope you have a good day outside today. I used to do ww and for me, I was just too lazy to record my points all of the time. That's why the whole calorie counting thing hasn't worked for me either. I am working towards that.

Can't wait to start the challenge tomorrow.
    I'll check back in later.
    Love
  • Hello, Red Team! Everone have a great on plan day today!

Melissa, I very much agree with you on the Shrek thing. Anyone kid's will listen to can motivate them, even an imaginary ogre. I also think if you feed your child healthy food most of the time, and junk food once in a while, they won't go crazy when they start making their own food choices because of feeling deprived.
Also, Melissa, you are going to have a great workout day! I wish that I could be hiking all day today!
  • Hello everybody!! Hope you are having a great day. Had a great morning at the gym and bought lots of healthy groceries at the store. Ready for the weekend. Anyone have any suggestions on their favorite work out videos? I go the YMCA most days but want something to do on the weekend so I can kick butt during the challenge!!
  • good morning everyone
    Good morning Red Team!

I am having a good morning and I hope you all are too. I am glad the weekend is almost here, even though it will be busy

I just did my food shopping for the weekend. I took my oldest daughter with me and while she was choosing a muffin at the bakery section I had to go off to another part of the store. It smelled so good, I was literally drooling. But I bought some nice munchy treats for myself--cheese, nuts, red peppers, and rice cakes. I will enjoy those this weekend.

I wanted to say how impressed I am by all the runners here. It gives me hope for the future!

As for Shrek, we are all so looking forward to the movie next month. We will be front and center for that, especially hubby, who always laughs louder than anyone in the theatre. I think Shrek's a great role model for kids, because he's unique and because he is an oddball. We're also looking forward to the new Harry Potter book, so this summer should be fun.

Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Charity....have a great time this weekend! And good luck with those healthy choices! Remember to take those steps that get you closer to your goals! I know you can do it!!

Love....how did your walks go today? I hope you enjoyed them!! I get too lazy with calculating things too, I can be really good with using fitday for about 3 - 5 days then I forget! Have a wonderful weekend!

Tanya.....I totally agree with you, junk food isnt even...its eating too much junk food! Something I wish someone had taught me! LOL!! We didnt actually hike as much as I thought we were going to but it was still a beautiful day to be out and about!

Shelby...way to go on that workout!!! the only videos I really like right now are the biggest loser videos and thats because of Bob!! I love bob! LOL!! They are really great workouts too.
  • OOps...I hit submit and didnt respond to Ann! LOL!!

Ann...we are looking so forward to the next shrek too, we just love him around here! And I agree he's a great rolemodel!! Excellent healthy snacks!!! You are stronger than any junk!!
