WHEW! I just posted my weigh in and I was checking out all of you loosers. WEIGH TO GO RED TEAM! You all are doing great!

This weekend was ok for me. I got in two fantastic workouts, but am a little slow this morning. We had Chinese yesterday, which did not fit into my plan, but i tried to make the healthiest choices. Then we did Subway for dinner. Again, went with the healthiest choice I could make. I need to go to the store today to stock up. I don't have much of anything in my fridge. Eggplant was on sale at Safeway, so I thought I would get one and try roasting it or doing some kind of lasagna with it.

Amber and Chairity-WTG on the runs. I do a bit of "running" when I get outside. I would love to do a 5k in the fall, around my birthday. That's one of my goals right now. I love the way I feel. We live in a pretty hilly area, so it kills me trying to jog up them. I usually try to catch the downward side though.

Erika-Good for you getting in some extra exercise! Looks like you are doing great. I made the sonoma pizza this weekend and it was fantastic. Only thing is I was only supposed to eat half of the pita round and I ate the whole thing. I gave my DH a bite and thought it was good as well. I loved the peppers and spnich...UMMM. It'll probably be lunch again one day...this time with the correct portions. hehehe.

Danielle-Well you got your first workout in, so looks like you are on your way. Remeber you've got your cheering section here. We are rooting for you.

Melissa-Hope you have a good, stress free day with all the appts and such.

Talk to loosers later. Gotta get the kids outside so they can go down for a nap.

Love, I have made a really light eggplant parm. before. Maybe you could find a recipe? If you check weight watchers website and do a search on the boards, you should find this recipe. It is a ww recipe, but it would be great for most any diet (though I think it uses bread crumbs, so maybe not if you are doing low carb). It was really yummy, my husband and dd liked it too! Let me know if you want it and can't find it, I will try to pm it to you.

Amber, my run went ok. It was really hot (about 80 degrees), so I ended up walking a lot of the last mile. I must have went too fast. I ended up at about 37:16, which is still faster than my previous time, but not as good as I wanted. I guess I will have to see how it goes. The race is at 8:30, so hopefully it won't be too hot.

As for your race, maybe you should start out and run a distance you are comfortable with, but less than you could probably do overall (maybe run straight for the first 6 miles), then start adding in scheduled walk breaks. I think it is a good idea, especially for a longer race, to take your walk break before you feel you need it. This will make your walk breaks more productive and they will be more useful recovery periods. If you wait until you really feel you need to walk (or like me, feel like you are going to die!), it will be hard to recover in a short time. So maybe do something like run your normal pace for the first 6 miles (or whatever amount you have done a lot and feel comfortable with), then begin your walk/run intervals. This will also allow you to have longer run intervals, because you won't start them when you are already really tired. Then, of course, you could run faster maybe the last mile or so. This is just my 2 cents, and since the furthest I have ever run is 4 miles, not sure my advise is worth much ;)

Amber – Ouch! That has got to hurt. Oh well…have a good week and it will show up all the better for next weeks WI. Have you tried hot lemon water? It helps your body to give up the water and sodium it might be holding on to.

WTG on the loss Angie!!

W00T! We are doing such a great job this week Red Team!!
Congrats to Love, Angie and everybody else who posted a loss this week, and also to Amber and Charity for great runs!!
I got in 2.6 miles as part of Week4 of C25K this morning. What a beautiful day for a run! 13C and sunny skies, and just a gentle breeze ... it was exhilarating. I've just had my Sonoma salad for lunch and I feel great. I have to say that for me the weight loss journey is not just about a nicer body and pounds lost ... it is also about having the energy and vitality to do the things I want to do!!

For RED WINS I've been trying to do a new yoga pose every day (for the "N" part)... which is quite interesting, because I know most of the basic ones, so I have to do a bit of research in my yoga books to come up with a new one. Yesterday I did Easy Lord of the Fishes, and today a bridge preparation where you don't arch your back as much (sweet!)

Have a great day Red teammates!
cheers
e.

Hi guys!! Just popping in very quickly before i gotta be over at the school. Just a few things to remember when weighing in.

The Starting weight is the weight you listed on the very first starting weight thread. Thats the weight the teams were divided up over so they have to stay the same.

Also, once you've posted a weigh in, you cant go back and change it (unless it was an error then I'd let Chellez know)

So, if you know either your starting weight you have in the Red Team weigh in thread is different than the starting weight in the starting weight thread

OR

You weighed in and then went back and changed it

We need you to change them back to the originals. Chellez aparently does the charts as she goes along so if someone changes something then the charts are wrong.

Sorry to be the heavy! I'm just passing it along from the powers that be.

Okay gotta run!! I'll be back this afternoon to catch up with everyone! Have a wonderful day!!

~melissa

Hi everyone!! Everyone worked very hard this week, loss or not -- we all know what a challenge each day is. Hope everyone has a great start to this week. I've decided to stay away from the scales until next Monday when I weigh in again. I think that's half my problem -- I'm on there too much!!

Have a great day red team -- keep up the good work!!!

CharityKB 04-30-2007 03:32 PM

Eusebius, that is a great idea with using new Yoga poses each day!

Shelby, the scale can be sometime discouraging, especially since our weight fluctuates so much during the week! Good for you for holding out until Monday, then your big loss will be a great surprise for you :)

Hi Girls!

Doing a quickie post before I gotta get busy getting ready for work. This morning was a busy one for me and I can't believe I gotta keep goin! Boohiss!! It looks like all of you are doing wonderful and that is so great to hear! All this talk of running and jogging, makes me hopeful that maybe one day I'll be able to as well. I wouldn't dare try it at this point, but someday.....

I didn't get a complete Red Wins for yesterday, the something New and Daily affirmations are going to be my hardest challenge. I have a VERY hard time being able to acknowledge anything nice about myself, let alone look in a mirror and do it. Yikes! So..there's my challenge with the challenge! lol

Looking forward to coming back tonight and hearing about what a great day you all had, you're all amazing! Keep up the hard work it will definitely pay off!

Be strong ladies! :grouphug:

P.S.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I gotta ask......

Charity, your stats are FANTASTIC! How have you been able to lose your weight? It must feel incredible to have shed so much and be so successful!!!

Karen68 04-30-2007 06:09 PM

Heheh Danielle, I was going to ask Charity the same thing. wow!!! :)

Congratulations!!! :carrot: That is soooo very awesome! Sounds like you're about to catch the running bug!

Charity just want you to know that you are the reason I went running tonight. I was so unmotivated, but you went for your run so I had to go for mine. THANKS
I went 9 miles stead of 10, cause, well I was about to drop dead. I figured I'd have a better chance of finishing Sunday if I didn't drop dead today. But really, I appreciate the motivation and great job on your run!

Danielle,

You are taking steps to change and better your life. That is something that many people don't have the courage, conviction or motivation to do! So if nothing else, you're still making your life healthier! You should be incredibly proud of yourself! Tell that to your mirror~!

bella mia 04-30-2007 09:12 PM

Good evening ladies,

I thought I had posted my weight on Saturday but I guess I forgot, anyhow just finished doing so and I am down 2.2 lbs for the week...Thank goodness!

Thanks for all the encouraging words...you are all so sweet and motivating. I have just been in one of those darn pre-TOM moods...and to top it off he's really dragging his arrival...I just want him done with!

I spoke to a friend today who was telling me that she is going to be doing the 5K cancer walk on Sept 30th and I think I might join her.
All this talk about running, I almost have an itch to join you guys. Is it hard? How do you start off? Silly question, I know but where do you start?

Well I got to go finish off my laundry and do some paperwork, so I wish you all a good evening and we'll talk to you tomorrow.

sportmom 04-30-2007 10:54 PM

Bella, on the weigh-in thread, you don't have to post a new message each week, you just go in and edit your original post and add your new weight each week. That keeps the thread from getting too long and confusing. So now, you can edit your original post with your 4/28 weight and delete your last post in the thread if you want. Hit edit, and then delete should be one of your choices. I would do this bc when I first scroll down thru the list, it looks like you are not updating when we come across your first one which isn't current, and I wouldn't want you to get eliminated by mistake because of that.
