I Messed Up
Hello
So I started Induction on the 19th of January. All was going well at first. I lost 7lbs my first week and then my weight stalled. I got frustrated one day at work and instead of taking it out with a workout I ate pizza Just that one slice of pizza started a domino effect in me and slowly I have went back to my old habits. Yesterday I calculated my carbs well over 200.
So (sigh) I guess this means I need to start over with induction?

Mistakes are how we learn. We've all made them. Learn from them and move forward. Back to Induction. Lots of water. In 3 - 4 days you'll be back in ketosis.
The good news is, the next time you feel like eating pizza, you can make yourself one that is Atkins friendly!
Check out the recipes here. Anything marked with an * is Induction friendly.

Hi misspriss! I am also in the re-start process of induction....again. I have similar issues, I will be doing really good and then suddenly hit a wall with no progress. No matter how hard I try to keep focus and power on I get so frustrated that I eat something high in carbs and it just leads to another item and another and it's a vicious cycle. This last time I was on a great workout routine and watching my nutrition very carefully but my wall came and did not budge, even when I tried changing things up. That was about 2 months ago. Today, having gained back every ounce that I had lost plus interest, I am back in induction. It has not been easy though this time, usually I could get into routine very easily but I have been giving into my late night "starving" feelings and eating off plan, usually a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit which would normally seem like generally harmless snacks but not for someone who NEEDS low carb in order to move the needle on the scale even a tiny bit to the left. Sorry this post wasn't helpful in giving advice on how I overcame this issue, I can just relate to what you are experiencing and searching for any ideas that may help.

Hi JerseyGyrl, I have seen the Atkins frozen pizza's at the store but haven't got them because the carb content is just a bit too high for my plan, but what are your thoughts on the frozen Atkins meals? I have been using them recently and they are really easy and convenient but some members on here say they stay away from the shakes/bars/meals and some like them...I have found that if I use the bars (all phase) my weight won't budge, so I just assume that maybe there is an ingredient that my body doesn't like in them. I love the shakes though as a quick and easy breakfast or easy snack when away from home.

Since you asked MY opinion.....I'm going to give it The Atkins products are crap and my advice would be to stay away from all of them. If you are wondering why I say this, read the ingredients on them. Wheat gluten, corn starch, oat fiber, soy protein isolate, whole wheat flour etc., etc., etc. Since when did any of these ingredients become "acceptable for All Phases"??? If you're going to eat that trash, you might as well just ring up your local pizza joint and place an order. At least you'd know what's in it!
As you said, "some like them". Honestly, I find this quite sad. After Dr. Atkins death in 2003, his company went bankrupt, it came out of bankruptcy and has been sold and re-sold to various companies over the years. The last book written by Dr. Atkins himself was Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 (the book I have followed since I began Atkins in 2004). The "new" books....New Atkins For A New You, Atkins Essentials, Atkins Made Easy, etc., etc., etc., not written by Dr. Atkins, the Atkins products have become popular. While some will argue had Dr. Atkins still been alive today, he may have gone this route himself, I personally do not believe that. Not based on what he himself had previously written. But....I am not here to debate that with anyone. I am here to share my experience and what has worked for me.
All that said, the choice is yours. My suggestion is that you do your research. You have already learned the Atkins bars cause you to stall. This article may be very helpful to you. I suggest anyone doing Atkins read it.

I hope this helps.

Good to know, thanks for the info...I always "knew" I shouldn't be using the products but because they were so easy it helps getting another persons view to finally toss them out and go real food.

Wow! Thanks for the link, JerseyGyrl. I don't eat a low carb diet, but I do watch my carb #'s set by MFP and have had Atkins and South Beach Diet bars. Although I have always counted the full carb amounts in them and not the net carbs, because I didn't understand how they worked. Very good to know!!

Thank you, you have made me feel so much better. Over the years I have learned to not beat myself up so much after I go off plan, any plan ( I used to be an obsessive calorie counter) But hearing that just after 3 days I can get back on plan and start over - I'm fully motivated now.
I had a girl tell me that it takes the body two weeks to start losing any weight that was gained after a higher carb day? I was bummed after hearing that.
Oh and the website is WONDERFUL. I specially like this recipe - SO EASY!!
thanks again.

Your post was quite helpful, It's great to know im not alone in the struggle of induction. What you are describing is exactly what I go through.
This is my problem. When I eat LCHF I feel great! My appetite is almost none existent and my cravings are controlled, and when I feel great my over all mood is good so exercising comes easy.
But, its those days...those " I-don't-wanna-bother-with-this" days is where I run into my problems.
After a stressful day at work I come home and the last thing I feel like doing is cooking or exercising. This is when I have to decided whats important, and boy are those days my true test in this journey. Gesh...
I do freeze food for easy grab and go breakfast and lunches...but dinner is different. I'm always trying to plan ahead..but that can get old as well.
ok, now im mumbling. ha. Thanks for listening

Even though im totally new to this way of eating, I agree with Jersery girl. Every time I eat any of the bars or frozen meals I don't feel quite the same. The bars tend to make me want to eat more of them and the frozen meals are so high in sodium that I pass them up. I've never tried the shakes so can't comment on those.
I wish there was more carb friendly healthier on-the-go options available out there.
