Replacing pre-workout carbs???

  • Hello lovely people

What are your thoughts on forgoing the pre workout carbs and what are you replacing them with?

I work out 4 times a week and in the past during my calorie counting low fat days I had a banana half an hour before my morning workout with porridge and berries afterwards. However, during induction on Atkins I have been replacing my post workout meal with scrambled egg and bacon/ham and mushrooms etc. However I am struggling pre workout. A couple of times I have not had anything, I know some people swear on the benefits of fasting workouts but I am finding my endurance lacking and occasional nausea and even slight dizziness so I think I am one of those people that really needs the pre workout boost.

I love the diversity offered on here so looking forward to your opinions/advice. FYI, I tend to do 1hr: interval cardio training and strength x 4 minimum a week.

    Love and light cx
  • How about a shake made with almond milk and eggs? You could add artificial sweetener and maybe some flavouring like vanilla.
  • Since you are on Induction, it is important you adhere to Induction foods.
Be sure you are drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration. You want to have protein before your workout....chicken, beef, tuna, eggs, cheese. These are high protein foods that are all still Induction friendly.
    Hope this helps!
    All the best to you

  • I use the low carb EAS protein shakes. 2 net carbs per serving.

The EAS protein shakes are made with soy protein isolate. This is not Induction friendly (if you are strictly following Atkins Induction).
