  • I have tried this diet....lifestyle change....before and was never truly commited to it. So this time around I am giving it my all and can't believe how good I feel.

    So I love Atkins because:

    More energy
No more hunger pains...and if there are I CAN EAT!

But most of all, I feel like I ate like a pig yesterday so I was scared to get on the scale this morning but guess what? Down 1 more pound. YAY!

So everytime I think about cheating or am tempted by the bakery at the grocery store, I think about these things and the temptation just disappears.

So unless I have covered everything, Why do you love Atkins?
  • I love the no more counting calories and worrying about going over.
I love not being SO hungry that I want to cry or rip someone's head off.
I love being able to sleep because my stomach's not growling.
I love being able to BBQ and enjoy ALL the meat.
I love not being bloated from water weight. I noticed that disappeared really quickly.
I love having my Colitis in check so I can get about my business not have to to call in sick every other day.
  • Love Atkins because...
This thread is a great motivator - thanks for starting it. Why do I love Atkins...Hmmmmm...
    • not counting calories or points. (I was starving on WWatchers!)
    • cream in my coffee!
    • Atkins forces me to eat fresh vegetables every day.
    • Atkins doesn't leave me hungry.
    • I'm not obsessing about "More" of anything.
    • I don't crave sugar or flour.
    • I can have a nice chunk of rich Havarti cheese with herbs before bedtime if I'm hungry.
    • There's always something on restaurant menus I can eat and enjoy - steaks, chops, grilled chicken, shrimp salad, Cobb salad -and usually I have more than one good choice.
    • the support from the Atkins thread on 3FC!
  • I was just telling one of friend yesterday... That I love Atkins, because:

I don't have to eat that crappy low fat food, yuk, cardboard and grass!!
    I am not craving anything
I can eat, if I feel like eating and as long as I stay on my list, I am fine
I can eat at restaurants without worrying about calories
Because we can still eat steak and chicken wings, my husband is not complaining!! The biggest reason!
Very cool info on 3FC, also alot of peeps just like me, makes it easier
  • I love Atkins because ...

    - I'm no longer obsessed with points, calories & fat grams
    - You get to eat REAL food - no preservatives, processed cardboard & sawdust
    - No more mood swings - and dare I say it ... hardly any PMS crankiness
    - I don't go to bed feeling drained
    - I have more energy waking up!
    - BACON
  • Enjoyed your blog...
Cher, I really enjoyed reading your blog, and I love the title. Clever writer, you are.
  • Ahh...Thanks - sorry for the delay in responding (internet's been down at home for a while) - I really miss checking in, but hopefullly, will be able to now
  • I love Atkins because my blood sugars are stable, and I can prevent the horrible effects of diabetes, and maybe prevent myself from becoming diabetic by sticking to the plan.
  • I love Atkins because
    I can eat meat
    I can eat salads
    No counting calories
Most of all because I am losing this weight once and for all.
It's a plan I can forever live with.
  • I love Atkins because I can enjoy dinner out and stay on plan...no worries. And if I'm hungry, I can eat.
  • I love Atkins because from what I've read so far, it's the only low-carb diet that allows and even encourages plenty of fat. Which is critical....keeps you full, controls appetite and cravings.....and keeps you from feeling deprived and living for the day you can ditch the diet.

The other low-carb diets have the low-carb part right but are still stuck in the dark ages of "must eat low-fat to be healthy". It's not that they're bad diets....they are just off on a few critical things......primarily the low-fat thing and that they do not restrict carbs enough (IMO) to cause steady, healthy loss (especially with the low-fat issue factored in).....at least until maintenance phase.

And then all the other diets? Well, any diet that includes sugar is not good, IMO....so I dismiss them right off the bat (for me, anyway).

So I love low-carb and I love Atkins more than all the rest of them due to the generous fat allowed/encouraged.

  • Because I am ALWAYS hungry when I do carb counting.

Because I can eliminate the burden of choice - ie There are donuts are work today, should i have a donut?, if i have a donut i have to go the gym, I don't want to go to the gym, no donut, well they look so good, just a half a donut, oh **** i ate the whole thing, well now my day is shot, i might as well finish it off with a happy meal because it already wont be a losing day....

soooo nice not to have to go through that!

    donut? sorry can't. the end.
  • I love Atkins for many of the same reasons that y'all cited:

    1. I'm not starving myself. When I'm hungry I can eat!
    2. I have lost my sugar cravings (and honestly, I didn't even know I had sugar cravings until I started this WOE).
    3. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast most mornings (unless I decide to have a tasty omelette or steak-n-eggs instead). YUM!
    4. I'm learning to cook new food that I love (hello, one minute muffin!)
    5. I'm sleeping better than I have in YEARS

I truly feel like I've found a new way of life. That might sounds strange, but that's how I feel. I'm so enthusiastic about Atkins that I have to stop myself from boring everyone I know with all the details!
  • I LOVE Atkins because it lets ME be in control of what I eat instead of the FOOD. This is my 2nd time around and I am keeping my carbs, calories AND portions under control. I find that because we don't have the hunger pangs like most dieters that I eat so much less than I used to. I know that breakfast is going to be my main meal so I love being able to eat sausages and eggs. The fat content in the sausages is high, but thats one of the reasons the Atkins works
  • All of the above - plus:

I NEVER get up from the table feeling stuffed and thinking "Why did I eat all that?"

If we had spaghetti or other high carb meal, I would eat until I couldn't hardly move and would just sit in my recliner.
