Default oh those bread portions

I've always been a bread eater ...that is until I did Atkins in 2003 and lost weight and now that I'm doing it again....no bread! Tonight I cooked some baked chicken, cream-styled corn, and just some little (regular-sized) biscuits from the can for dinner. I only ate the chicken. No salad for me as I had one earlier today and also my appetite just isn't there so chicken it was.

In the past, we always had the Grand sized biscuits...you know, almost as big as your head? LOL! Since I'm no longer eating bread I thought I would just buy the little ones so that they wouldn't go to waste. My daughter who is 12 thought they were hilarious! She had never seen biscuits this size! LOL! My mother usually made homemade biscuits for us when we were kids but sometimes we would have biscuits from the can and they were this size. This is just another example how the portion size has increased since I was a kid. Another reason why our country is fat!

My daughter probably burned off the food she ate this evening jumping around the house. She is no bigger than a minute and very hyper! Wish I had that energy! Once upon a time I was that little skinny mini and now look at me! oh well...I blame myself and those darn portions! Not to mention carbs! But, I'm not gonna withhold breads from her as she is a growing kid who does eat a balanced meal. Oh and did I say active? goodness! if only they could find a way to bottle that energy!

I agree - same thing with restaurant portions - think of spaghetti, the whole plate is covered with noodles, with maybe, a side of salad, IMO it s/b the other way around!

& "good on yah" for passing up those freshly baked biscuits - I don't even bake bread anymore & when my guys want garlic bread or pizza, I'll put it in the oven, then leave the house for a bit, so that when I return all is gone (hey it works for me )

LOL! it doesn't bother me anymore. During induction, she had a little friend over and I baked them cinnamon rolls for breakfast and ordered pizza for dinner! I didn't touch any of it! That was harder then I think as I was having the "Atkins Flu" but I was proud of myself!

At Starbucks I noticed they now have some mini donuts and mini scones. Of course they still have the giant ones. But I thought it was nice to see "real" portions of those kinds of foods! I don't think those kinds of foods would be the big problem that they are if all anybody had was a few bites (mini version) at a time, instead of making a meal out of them.
