Angry Weight gain?

I'm 5 lbs from reaching the end of the induction phase.
Its a week since my AF ended. This past week I've gained 2 lbs. My carbs have been at 20, sometimes under.
I'm using my iphone app "Lose It" to track what I eat. So I know I'm doing good.
what's going on?

possible your carbs are too low. to much salt not enough exercise endless possibilities are you using keto sticks? i personally dont use them as i don't need to i can notice the change in my skin smell when in ketosis.

Quite frankly, the last few lbs. are typically the most difficult to shed. You may find what worked originally, isn't working now and you may need to "tweak" things a bit. Would you mind posting a typical day's menu?

Breakfast: 2eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 1 inch cube of cheddar cheese. Drink: tea with heavy creamer and stevia.
Lunch: tuna salad (tuna, 1/8 red bell pepper diced & mayo), cheese. Drink: water.
dinner: steak, chicken, or fish with steamed veggies or salad. It can be either steamed 2 cups of cabbage. Or a lettuce and bell pepper with a hard boiled egg salad with a tbs of olive oil and vinager. Drink: water

Because we are all individual, the reasons for weight gain & weight loss vary greatly from 1 person to another. Personally, for me, I found I had to severely limit cheese. I'm not saying that's your culprit....but...it could be Some experience difficulties with artificial sweeteners, some find they need more veggies & salads. Adding 5 carbs more of veggies is often helpful. Getting more fat helps some. As I said, its very individual....you are going to have to experiment to find what best suits you. That can take time. Be patient....it will be worth it
All the best to you!

i can eat cheese till it comes out of my ear looking at that i'd say too low on the carbs i'd agree another 5 is worth trying. remember carbs are needed to burn fat.

Hi mom4life,

I find that if I do not get enough fat daily, I will slow down the ketosis. And for me, the ketosis is critical so I track how what I eat affects that. Are you putting butter on your steamed veggies? I always make sure to have butter or mayo daily.....in fact, sometimes I almost have to force the butter down...esp. on fish.
Now I had been craving soup and made a chicken broth with chunks of chicken and an entire head (small) of shredded savoy cabbage....so that was my veggies yesterday....but see, not enough fat....and this morning it showed...only trace ketones.

Also, like Jerseygyrl said, artificial sweeteners and cheese can be likely culprits. We often have to tinker around and use trial and error to figure out what the problem is. I had to do just that to get Atkins to work for me again....learned I could NOT use the amount of artificial sweetener that I could 20-some years ago, the last time I did Atkins. This time, I had to figure out what the problem was and adjust a few things to make it work.

But you are doing fantastic! You've lost a great deal of weight and are so close to goal! Congratulations!! You will figure this out. Try out the various suggestions and see if they remedy the problem for you.

Thank you, I do use butter on my veggies....have to, doesn't taste good without it. LOL
I'll try what y'all have suggested. No cheese this week. we'll see what happens then I'll try something else. :-)
Thank you all again. :-)

Basically Induction is 2 weeks....that being said, as long as you aren't bored with the food choices on Induction, it can be done for extended periods of time.
I've been on Atkins 5 & a half years....I wouldn't say I do strict Induction...but, I keep my carbs low.

Thanks for your input. I guess I will have to order the book online. I have been unable to find the Atkins book in my hometown.

You might want to check your local library.
I can't stress enough the importance of reading the book before beginning Atkins....it is essential to know exactly how & why the plan works.
You will also want to get a 2002 or prior edition. Editions after 2003 (Dr. Atkins death) really aren't true to the way he wrote the plan.
