Default My throat is on fire!

I am sick and my throat is on I don't even have a voice. Is tea the only thing I can do about it? Is tea even the right idea? I don't normally drink any caffeine. Would sugar free throat/cough drops be a bad idea?

I haven't done anything for it yet. It started yesterday.

I don't think you need to worry as much about your carb count if you're sick. When I have a sore throat I do hot water with a little lemon, or decaf tea, but honestly I'm not sure it helps. I think the tylenol is what really does the trick. Feel better!

Hi Jennifer! LTNS Last time I had a really severe sore throat it turned out to be strep throat. Never had it before & don't know how I got it but there it was. Look in the mirror and use a flashlight to see if you have any white spots back there...if so, get to the doctor asap as you need antibiotics.

For sore throats, decaf tea w/lemon (no sweetener) helped as would the hot water w/lemon. The acid in the lemon seems to help. Another thing that worked well for me was plain Greek yogurt but I don't know if that's allowed on Atkins. There are also sore throat sprays that numb the pain.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Sue! I am so glad to see a familiar face!

Thanks to both of you for the advice and care. I just took some Naproxin to ease some of my body aches. I'm hoping it will help with my throat too. I'm about to make myself some tea. I went to work today and they let me go home. At least I don't have to talk today now! lol Unless I want to talk to the dog or cat until I pick up my dd from school!

Gargle with warm salt water. It always makes my throat feel better.

This is probably going to sound kind of odd....but....it works. Mouthwash (Scope or Listerine) mixed with warm salt water. Doesn't sound too good but, helps a lot.
