Default New Here and on a MISSION to overcome the "BATTLE OF THE BULGE" before my wedding...

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I went to the grocery store and got all kinds of stuff for my journey on Atkins. I am excited to start this, but at the same time scared. I'm terrified that I will lose motivation and fall off the wagon...ugh...... what do you guys do to stay motivated and to resist that darn temptation of the bad food???

Hi Joy! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. When's the big day?

Have you ever tried a low-carb way of eating before? Atkins is a great way of life, so long as you're committed to it. After going through Induction, you'll find that a lot of the cravings go away, and that's a huge part of resisting temptations. And I always have little things to snack on so I'm not so tempted to go for carbs.

One of the things that helps me to stay motivated is to re-read Dr Atkins book. Reading the science behind the diet is interesting, and reassures me that even if the scale isn't moving, I'm still making progress with inches.

Also, I visit these boards and read other people's struggles and wins. I can see other posters progress and that inspires me a lot.

Hi! Atkins is the best thing I ever did for my health, so I have no fear of going back to my old WOE. Fortunately, this plan is set up to encourage success (decreased cravings and hunger), so the ratty carbs simply don't appeal to me any more.

Here's to a new way of life for you, and yes, tell us about the wedding!

Hi, I just had my wedding (see my brand-spankin-new blog under my username), and I can tell you, the only motivation you need is thinking about all the pictures and videos and memories of your big day. It really was a wonderful day and the happiest of my life, but I can't help but feel a twinge of regret that I didn't kick my butt into shape beforehand. I'll cherish the memories forever, but I certainly try to avoid looking at my wedding picture, which is a shame. Live and learn!

Yes, I have done Atkins before, but I dont think I was nearly as serious about it as I am now. I have more motivation now...my Wedding and wanting to have children. I have now been officially on Atkins for 2 days... yesterday was absolute ****... it was soo hard! Today was better... But I will say, I had a huge temptation that I resisted. yay! A lady I work with brough an entire box of those world famout chocolates that the schools down here sell. And OH MY GOSH! I probably walked by those things 100 times today bc she put them in the main room at our office. It was the hardest thing not to go grab one. UGH! I love chocolate! BUT I told myself that if I cheated I would sooo regret it, so I went straight back to my office and burried myself in work. lol.

I told my fiancee that I was going to put pictures all over the house and even in my car of wedding dresses, etc to help motivate me and keep me from cheating. I also came home today and did my biggest loser workout. I just feel so much better about myself and I feel more energized after I get in a good workout. Now....getting the fiancee to join me is going to be one of my next goals. He needs it just as much as I do. I hope that when he sees me losing and getting smaller with more energy he will jump on board. I can't make him do it. He has to do it because he wants to and wants to be healthy.

What I am excited about, is my mom and my sister and in competition with me. Whoever looses the most weight by the time my wedding, the other 2 have to buy the winner a new wardrobe. AND I could use a new wardrobe to take on my honeymoon cruise! So, I told them that it is ON!

Do you guys ever do group challenges on here or contests??

You seem to have great motivation! My husband and I are trying to get rid of all our carbs while I'm reading Atkins book (1992 version, got it at Goodwill ). I want to start on Atkins, like, yesterday.

The challenge with your family is really smart. Maybe hubs and I will do something similar...
