Default Carbs and Net Carbs

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my first week of induction and I am very pleased. I lost 5 pounds. I have been very strict in carb counting and counted CARBS not NET CARBS...Just like your instructions say.

I want to continue to be strict and add carbs very carefully through the carb ladder. I'm really looking forward to berry week!

My question is when can you start counting net carbs? What are things that I should watch out for so I don't start some sort of carb creep?

I did read the Atkins book a long time ago about 1999 and was sucessful in losing 30 pounds, but I hit a hard plateau when I started using some of the Atkins products like the snack bars...they had just come out. I will never use them again.

I do want to try making the "1 minute muffin" posted on your recipe board. Sounds great. The key carb ingredient is Flaxseed meal...its something like 17 carbs - 1 net carb. Is this something I can have after induction?

Personally, I've counted net carbs from day 1 on Atkins (total carbs with fiber deducted).

Stay far away from Atkins bars. They are very misleading. They claim to be "appropriate for Induction"...yet if you read the ingredients, they contain ingredients like soy, nuts & milk...none of which are on the acceptable foods list. They also claim to contain 0 grams of sugar alcohols, yet they have Glycerine in them...which IS a sugar alcohol.

You can actually have the 1 minute muffins while on Induction

i also counted net carbs from the beginning. as i feel fibre intake is very important
