Default Something that bugs me about Canada v. the U.S.

When people ask me how I'm adjusting, I keep saying, it's the little things that get to me!

Anyway, since I've been back on the weight loss "wagon" - something I've noticed is that in Canada, products are labelled with serving size and calories per serving, but they seem to lack that all-important "servings per container" measure that U.S. food packaging has. So, I'm not all THAT good with converting my ounces to grams as it is, and now I am also busy figuring out how many grams are in a tablespoon (?!) etc etc etc -

Because I NEED to know what will happen if I eat the whole thing!!!

Sometimes, if I have a product like that, it does tell how many servings per container (or you can look at the net wt. for an estimate). I then divide the container up into that many servings, and it's a rough estimate. It is annoying, though.

I guess what I'm saying is, if it says 12g is a serving, and there are 120g in a container, divide the container (ugh, annoyingly) into 10 equal portions (120/10) and you'll get a serving!

Oh yeah, I can do THAT - it's when it says a tablespoon is a serving, and there are 120g in a container, that I get frustrated!

How about a metric/English food scale?

Hopefully this link is ok. This is a site that will allow you to do conversions, including cooking conversions:

You can also use google to convert some things.

Just go to google.com, and type in something like '2.1 ounces in grams" or whatever, and it'll show you the conversion.

Or you can do "32713 furlongs per fortnight in meters per second"...

I am with you ... I really hate that. Especially with the frozen french fries. I noticed some bags will tell you how many pieces equal a serving, but most don't.

Also, soup. I know how much to measure out for the broth, but sometimes the noodles are hard to gage.
