Smile Eating habits

Well, I have realized my eating habits have changed. Instead of french fries and burger cravings, I now have fruit & veggie cravings. Weird! LOL After 29 years of eating junk food & LOVING it, I now wish I were eating healthier foods ALL the time. On vacation, we ate so much crap, I was literally sick! I was begging for a salad, which I got.

It's so weird that all I want to eat are tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, etc.. For dinner, I have such a hard time coming up with anything.. I can be happy with a salad, although now my salad dressing is an issue. Before, I'd be a die hard Italian dressing girl, now I use the fat free italian but just a little bit. In the past, I would have used a lot of dressing on my salad but now, I don't care to really have much of any kind of dressing on it. But, I need a little something so now i'm trying out new dressings.

I only wish I were losing more weight a bit quicker. The scale did move down a pound this morning but i'm not moving my ticker yet until i'm 100% sure. I'll weigh again tomorrow and see if it's the same or not.

I am craving soups as well... I don't know where all this is coming from! LOL Sooooooooo weirddddddd!!!! LOL Any good soup recipes, i'm interested. I make taco soup all the time.. LOVE IT! Family is getting tired of it though.

Oh I know what you mean! DH works at Burger King, and we get free food there, so when groceries run out, we usually go there till we can get more groceries, and after 2 days of burgers and fries, my stomach is like "GIVE ME REAL FOOD!" And I litterally can't even force a burger down or a fry.... I guess that's a good thing though. My body knows what it's doing....Ick!

i was JUST thinking about how my eating habits are changing-- yesterday for lunch i went out to my favorite veg indian buffet where back in the day i could clear two plates no problem-- i now get FULL from one plate and yesterday i couldn't even finish everything on my one plate (and i LOVE indian food-- i have to be seriously FULL to be done usually). in fact, i was full for the rest of the day and didn't even eat dinner. i've also started craving fruits and i notice the more i work out, the easier it is to drink all my water...

this is one of my all-time favorite soups:

JenE & stacy's funkalicious lemon lentil soup

1 c lentils
6 c water
1 potato (peeled an cut into 1/2 inch cubes)
1 c chopped celery
1 c chopped swiss chard or mustard greens
1- 2 tb olive oil
1/4 c chopped cilantro
1/4 c chopped parsley (i don't like parsley so i've never used it)
1 heaping tb coriander
1 heaping t cumin
3+tb lemon juice (i don't think there can ever be enough lemon juice!)
few cloves of garlic- minced
salt and pepper to taste

1) rinse lentils
2) bring lentils and water to a boil in a large pot- simmer for 35 minutes
3) in a separate pan heat oil, add garlic, pepper, and potatoes- cook 2 min
4) add celery and cook 2 more minutes
5) add to lentils and broth- cook 10 minutes
6) add swiss chard (or whatever greens), coriander, cumin, and lemon juice- cook 10 minutes
7) add parsley and cilantro
8) salt (or add more lemon juice) to taste

I have also noticed my eating habits changing, although I still binge on sweets when I get stressed (VERY bad habit). But in general, I now eat and enjoy fruits and vegetables, I don't eat sandwiches all the time -- I actually cook real food, I don't like greasy/deep fried foods, I stop eating when I am no longer hungry, and I actually feel the effects of what I eat, which is awesome because being in tune with my body helps me eat right. I have never listened to my body, and even though I have not lost weight, I am ecstatic about being in touch with my physical side.

i can't wait to get to the stage you are at.

i still reach for the cheese snack instead of the fruit. i don't know what it is but i do.

having a picture of a very sexy lady on my fridge is helping though. i haven't had cheese and crackers at night for about a week now. i had a mandarin last night instead

i love soups and legumes. the boyfriend isn't a big fan though so i feel silly making it just for me. i have to get over it.

For me, before healthy snacks were never even an option.. The good part is that when I started really eating mindfully, I started eating a much wider variety of foods so now even though I don't crave the healthy stuff yet, I've got those at the top of my list when I'm hungry.
