Default It never occurred to me..

For some reason, I have always had this idea drilled into my head that dinner either consists of 'meat, veggie, carb' or 'pasta and bread', kwim? Never once did I ever think of putting chicken with two VEGGIES! LOL That is until tonight! DUH! Why didn't I ever think of that?!

What a novel idea.

That's right! We have no need to worry about feeding our families. We had chicken and salad for supper tonight. DH and DS had a baked potato ... I did not.

I was watching the show "weighing in" on the food network last night and they made a turkey dinner that was 1/2 the fat and calories of a traditional dinner- They cooked only the turkey breast and served it with steamed green beans tossed with almonds and some squash glazed with mapple syrup. A far cry from our traditonal turkey dinner that requires you to dirty every pot, pan, bowl and serving dish known to man!

There is an alternate to making all the favorite foods healthier I believe. It takes patience and the willingnest to experiment.
I have been experimenting with this really awesome choc cake,,,it has oatmeal in it so very heavy. But I am trying to get rid of the brown sugar (was told Splenda makes brown sugar?) and trying to get rid of the butter. So far I have tried apple sauce. ummm didn't taste as good...so will try something else...
