Here's the birthstory!
I woke up at 5am Thursday morning with contractions, mostly in my lower back. They were coming regularly, so when they were about 5 minutes apart, we went into the hospital. Well, the contractions were not even showing up on the monitor and I was only dialated to 3cm. So, we were sent home. On the way home, we stopped for some lunch and the contractions started to get much worse while we were at the restaurant. We headed home and the nausea and vomitting came. Around 4:30, DH couldn't stand seeing me in so much pain, so he called the dr, who told us to go back to the hospital. Since I "knew" we would just be sent back home, I held out until 6pm. By then the pain was so bad I was desparate for some relief and agreed to return to the hospital. By 6:30 I was back in the telemetry unit for monitoring and was dialated to 4-5cm. (Yay, that meant I could stay and get some relief!) While I was moved to the LDR, the order was put in for the epi. Within minutes of arriving in the LDR room, my water broke and nurse checked me again. I was dialated to 8cm! She asked me if I still wanted the epi. When I yelled "YES!", the staff started moving much quicker LOL! A few minutes later, the epi was in and I felt such relief
I relaxed until I felt the urge to push. After 30 minutes of pushing, we found out that we were the parents of a beautiful
baby girl
Emilia Shirley was born at 8:22pm on 11/17. She measured 19.5 inches and was 7lbs even. Her apgars were 9 and 9. BF'ing is challenging, but the nursing staff was great in teaching me how to get her latched on. So we're both getting better at each feeding.
Steve and I are totally in love with our little girl and praise the Lord for her safe arrival.
