Unhappy I suffer depression

Hello I am new to this forum and I suffer depression. Some days are harder than others. Of course I use food as a soother. I am at my heaviest right now and that makes me wat to cry that much more! I have been on several different medications for depression and yes Zoloft helped but I started gaining some weight. Anyway I went off from it and I am feeling about the same as when I was on it. Of course when it gets close to that time of month I start feeling sad again more so than any other time. Anyway I could use a buddy... anyone interested?

Hi Tina, and welcome!

May I suggest a few buddies? Please join us on the daily thread, thats the thread with today's date on it (example, todays thread is titled: Weekend Chat, March 12th and 13th). The girls there are so very supportive and boy do they understand.

I know what you mean using food as comfort, I think everyone on this site can relate.

Hugs and hope to see you on the daily.

Leenie

I am on 50mg of zoloft and yes it helps, but I still have days I am down. Could it be that you haven't been on zoloft long enough or at the right dosage? My doctor wants me at 100mg eventually, but we are taking it slow. I've been on this dosage for 2 months now. At first I lost weight as my appetite was less, after a few weeks I noticed I was more hungry. I craved things, not so much sweets but carby foods. I was told that zoloft is prescribe for binge eating as it lessens the desire for carbs, as serotinon helps with that. Carbs increase serotonin in our bodies. For now I am taking it.

Purple pansy,
I was on 100mg of Zoloft and yes it did work, but I had to go off of it cause I can not afford it. My problem is not just depression only though and I have tried to get my doctor to put me on something I can afford like Librax. I have anxiety, nervous conditon which then gives me IBO. Anyways she would go on to say Zoloft helps with all that not just depression. Okay so it does but how can I take if I can't afford it? Anyway I am going to a new doc on Wed! Hopefully he will help me out. Thanks for commenting.

I as on Effexor for awhile, I didn't gain weight on it, but I would sweat like a pig all day long. I gained my weight from the Depo birth control shot. And the messed up my emotions pretty, before the shot I only had mild depression. Now it's full swing.
