Default Nausea

Am I the only one to experience LOTS of nausea on Atkins, especially when first starting? Today is day one (restart actually) and I've been nauseated all day. Any ideas?

Hi Melanie and Welcome To 3FC's Atkins Board

Congratulations on Starting Atkins !!!!!!!

I never got nauseated on atkins, the worst was a headache but not for long. All I can say is make sure you EAT!!! and drink lots of water, it will pass. Did you check out our FAQ's at the top of the threads? I'm not sure but it might say something in there about it. Your among friends who are restarting AGAIN !!!! I think many of us are.

Good Luck, hope you can come by the daily boards and chat w/us.

Leenie

Welcome, Melanie!

Yes, it's normal. A lot of us experience withdrawal symptoms (headache, nausea, stomach aches, feeling weak or shaky, etc.) and that's exactly what it is - withdrawal. Once your body adjusts to the low carb levels and switches over to using fat as it's primary fuel instead, those symptoms will go away.

Well, the nausea went away after I took some medicine (it was that bad) But the scale went UP two pounds. It has never done that before when I was on Atkins. The other times Ive lost like 1-2 pounds a day for the first couple weeks. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. Our weight fluctuates as much as 5 pounds over the course of a day. Just stay focused on the big picture. It's not all about pounds. Take note of your measurements and how your clothing fits, too. Pay attention to how your strength and muscle tone increases as you work out. Notice how your body feels. There are lots a ways to measure success.
