I've spent a long time just thinking about losing the weight, and I have not been able to follow through. I feel ready this time. I'm logging all of my foods beginning today and drinking lots of water. Exercise is one of the hardest parts for me to incorporate, but I'm going to try some apps or videos when I can't get in my walks. I've got my FitBit charged and intend to meet my 10,000 step goal at least 5 times per week. I'll need help along the way, so I'll be checking in.
Congrats on making the decision to start. I had the same issue before I started. Spent a lot of time thinking about losing weight before actually making the jump to doing it. Now, a year and a half in I have lost about 80lbs. I think tracking your food is great.
As for exercise, I had a similar problem. It was always much easier for me to control what I ate than to get moving. I think the important part is to take manageable steps. I think walking is a great way to start. I used to try to give myself incentives to walk. Two big ones for me. I could only buy a coffee from a coffee shop (not a crazy 500 cal. one obviously) if I drank it while on a walk no less than 2 miles. The other was listening to Serial, which I am obsessed with. I could only listen to it while walking. Eventually, as I felt more in shape, I started going to the gym and running, but it was doing it in baby steps that made the difference.
Exercise was never a problem for me - until now. When I started Nutrisystem over 3 years ago, I weighed 300 lbs. I jumped right into doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD. Yeah, it was tough, but now that I weigh 345 lbs., it's impossible to do it now. I am currently doing Leslie Sansome's 1 Mile Power Walk. And I even find myself having to psych myself up to do that!!
Congrats! Eating right is most of the battle. I do, however, feel much more motivated to eat super well when I've had a work out that I don't want to waste. Walking definitely counts, though, so your 10,000 steps plan sounds great!
