I have made them and I like them! I make two pans out of a head of cauliflower and do mild sauce on one and hot sauce on the other. They taste more similar to boneless wings than they do the traditional bone-in.
I am not a big fan of cauliflower but I have read quite a few reviews that says they taste nothing like it...Then again, I was told that about cauliflower rice and I do not like it (I found it to be mushy and the taste a bit odd).
I love hot wings so much, I think I would rather just splurge now and then on the real thing!
I've had really disappointing experiences in trying cauliflower-based substitutes (rice, breadsticks), though I haven't tried cauliflower wings. Please let us know if you try it, and if it turns out well, share the recipe.
Cauliflower pretty much absorbs most flavors, so essentially you are eating hot wing sauce in solidified...which isn't a bad thing. I have made cauliflower mash with dill, basil and lots of herbs and it was pretty good.
I am also a hot wing lover! I will have to try this with the cauliflower. For now I just saute some boneless, skinless chicken breast or thigh in olive oil and add a dash of Frank's Red Hot before eating. Not the same, but will do for now.
I like them dipped in light blue cheese. I even got my wing loving (and cauliflower hating) boyfriend eating them. He shouldn't because it triggers his IBS, but he couldn't stop eating! I don't think I've made them in a good year, and I have a head of cauliflower, so maybe it's time
