Default Ideal Protein Alternative Newbie

Hi everyone ~ Just thought I'd introduce myself!
I joined 3FC long ago, but here I am finally coming to join the fun!

My name is Nicky and I am a mom to 4 kids (17.5yrs boy, 16yrs girl, 13.5yrs boy, 10.5yrs boy) Married to my husband for 19 yrs.

I've basically been struggling with weight for the past 17.5 yrs ~ but after my last child and a hysterectomy 2 yrs later ~ I've not lost the weight, always going up between 230 and 240. This winter I hit the highest ever at 248.5.

In the small community I live in, there is a lot of women that have been doing the IP program and a few that are doing alternatives!

I am trying to follow the IP as close as I can without using their product!

Morning: Shake
lunch: Shake and a salad
Supper 8oz meat and veggies (sometimes I eat 2cups of the veggies at lunch)
Snack : protein bar.

I'm 3 weeks in and have lost -16.7 ~ going onto week 4!
I'm wanting to loose a small child LOL roughly 75lbs.

Hoping to get to know you and support one another in this journey!

Welcome!

You need to eat 2 cups of veggies at lunch and dinner if you are following the IP protocol. The alternatives thread has lots of great info. What are you eating will give you daily feedback if you are specific and the daily chat will get seen more often than starting your own thread.

I've tried to introduce some alternatives to help with the IP costs but I am still mostly IP.

Thanks for the welcome!

Generally I try eat the 2 cups at lunch but sometimes work don't let me permit it ~ I'm in sales so sometimes I'm trying to get my shake in to get my protein.

So for breakfast:

Whey shake

Lunch a Lean shake and most days 2 cups of veggies. or sometimes a salad

Supper is anything from 8oz of chicken, ground beef, beef, pork tenderloin with veggies.

Snack: Quest bar

and usually 80-100 oz of water

Welcome doughgirl.I did very much what you are doing except had whey protein shake for snack instead of bar.I bought a scale and weighed everything and measured the veggies.I only ate low carb vegs and low fat meats and fish.I lost 30 lbs since Nov16/13 .The daily calories were approx 800 to 1000 during weight loss and now I am maintaining at 138 consuming approx 1400 calories daily.
This diet did not cost me anything except the whey protein powder and food scale and note book to record daily calories.
I would have bought the food anyway and spent far less than on junk food and prepared foods.
You absolutely can do it on this program.

Welcome, doughgirl! I have four kids too, three boys and a girl, though yours are a little older than mine. I started IP right around the same time you did. It will be fun to watch your progress (which is awesome thus far, btw)!

Hey Girls! I just thought I'd say HI too! I started in November and then got off track a little (lost 20 lbs during that time)... just started back strong 3 weeks ago...lost 10 lbs the first two weeks and then yesterday when I weighed in I'm up 2 lbs...BUT I've followed the diet it's just that "time of month"... UGH! I'm hoping this week I'll really see a big difference. It's so disappointing when hormones get in the way, haha! Good luck! I look forward to tracking with yall!

Good morning. I am new here and trying to start this IP alternative program. I have seen some conflicting info. In my morning coffee can I have a bit of Splenda and a bit of half and half? Only drink one cup a day.

Sorry, it's 1 oz of Skim milk. Half n half has 260 calories in 1oz, 216 of which are from fat - a HUGE NONO!
