Default Spent Grains

Wondering if anyone has any info on spent grains on SB. My husband brews beer and I have a couple big baggies full in my fridge. The nutrition content is pretty amazing. One cup has 40 calories 4 g carbs 6 g fiber and 3.5 g protein. I'm doing phase 1.5 and these seem like they would be great to make veggie burgers out of or to add to meatloaf, meatballs, etc. I also found bread recipes but they called for additional flour. Going to play around with adding these to some of the bean and flax seed based 'bread' recipes on here.

Do you mean SPELT? If so, good stuff.

I learn something new every day. Bet they would be okay. I'd try a small amount at a time and see how you feel. Now I want to call my friend who brews beer

And I learned something new too. I've eaten spelt so assumed spent was a typo.

Count me in as someone else learning something new! They certainly sound interesting.

It's not spelt. It's spent grains which are left after the brewing process.

Got my hopes up. Lol. Black bean and spent grain burgers were disgusting. The taste wasn't as bad as the texture. There were husks mixed in and they were pointy and weird. I bet it varies a lot based on the type of beer brewed. This was my hubby's first time making beer from the actual grains instead of from extract.
