Default Weight Loss and Snoring

How many of you lost enough weight to notice (or for someone else to notice) your snoring stopped. I'd be curious to know how much weight you lost to cure the snoring.

Fortunately I don't have sleep apnea anymore (tested recently) but I still snore very very loudly. I am hoping continued weight loss will cure it and it will be a non-scale victory. I'm just wondering how long I may have to wait (although I know everyone is different).

Weight loss has not helped my snoring. I snored like a freight train when I was a skinny little kid and still do. It sucks. My DH couldn't sleep for my noise, so now we don't sleep together any more which makes me sad.

I read somewhere that if you didn't snore before you got overweight, then maybe weight loss would help. If you already snored, then probably not. This has certainly been true in my case.

I don't want to discourage you, but be prepared.

There was a point when I was thinner that I didn't snore - I just can't remember when that was. So I think I have hope!!! I would love to cure the snoring. Thanks for your stories.

You gals are so fortunate! Not only does my DH not want to sleep with me, when I go on a girls only outing that involves over night there are always issues with my snoring. My snoring bothers me almost as much as being overweight does.

I don't know if weight necessarily will cure this...my sister-in-law is absolutely tiny, narcoleptic, and snores like a champ. I don't generally snore, but if I've woken my dog (also a champion snorer) up a few times when I had sinus infections.

In any case, I'm glad that your sleep apnea fixed itself up and hope that this gets better for you too.

Hubby and I sleep is separate rooms now due to snoring. He snores. I snore. He's not overweight but as he has aged something has changed. As for me, it's just been that last four years or so that my snoring has gotten so bad that it wakes him up.

When I went down from 350 to 335, my snoring had stopped completely. I've since crept up again, but determined to get back to my non-snoring weight

I snored for as far back as I remember....In the past two years, I've been told differently but not exactly sure when it stopped...
Everyones different tho

My grandmother is this petit little thing, and she snores like a freight train...my sister lost weight, and she still stores...

I think I stopped snoring maybe 230's? I didn't have sleep apnea before(was tested) but the difference it's made in my sleep has been awesome. I've heard there are other ways to work with snoring if weight loss doesn't fix it, and you could certainly ask your doctor for help.

Now, if only I could kick the cats off the bed, I'd finally get a REAL good night's sleep.

My husband tells me I used to snore softly at 195 lbs and that I no longer snore at all.

Vex, you can see the culprits in my avatar. We can't let them sleep with us because they are so annoying at night.

I wonder if I still snore now that I lost about 24 lbs. I'm single so I have not good way of knowing. I guess I'll have to record it sometime.

I suspect I still snore but hopefully another 40 lbs will cure that!

My DH snored when he gained weight, when he went from 245 down to the 180s he stopped snoring at some point in there, not sure exactly when.

I know at my heaviest I was snoring (230s, 220s), I stopped at some point during my loss, not sure when though, I think in the 190s, maybe 180s.

I had never snored before gaining weight, if that helps any.

I had horrible sleep apnea and wore a mask and machine. I would snore LOUDLY and stop breathing. I stopped wearing the mask when I got under 200 pounds and I don't snore or stop breathing now.
