Good Morning,
I don't know what happened to the first daily post that I tried opening this morning, but it was inserted all sorts of other posts with it so I had to close it and reopen another one. Sorry for any confusion.

Default Surgery Weight Gain?

Hi all! I had a minor surgical procedure yesterday and this morning I am up 4 pounds! I am hoping that it is post-anesthesia and inflammation gain. I have to say I was shocked at that much weight gain in a day! I did have a few pieces of caramel corn popcorn but that is the only thing off program. Hoping it comes off in the next day or 2.

Was today your weigh in day? We really shouldn't be weighing every day. Normal fluctuations will drive us crazy. Surgery causes swelling (inflammation). A water-weight gain will be expected. It is not fat. Stay off the scale and follow the plan, including any modifications your coach added for before/after surgery

It's water weight. You'd have to eat an ungodly amount of calories to add 4lb of fat - more than you could stomach in a day. But I'll echo Lisa that you shouldn't be weighing every day, especially if it's going to make you nutty - we can fluctuate a few pounds over the course of a DAY as well as across several days. The scale is really just a measure of your weight TRENDS - and as long as you're trending DOWN you're good. Don't stress yourself!!!

NurseKeri55 - definitely inflammation! Good luck with your recovery!

Mompattie - jeez! And I thought it was cold at 41 F! Brrrrr is right!

Playing with coconut flour and pancakes today .... interesting stuff to work with.

Maybe Rainbow can chime in if she's ever used this wild stuff?

Hello Everyone and thanks for being here for all this information. I am on week 3. I officially survived a work trip that included several outings with lots of wine. Thanks for all the tips.

I do weigh every day. One thing I found is that if I weigh every day, I am better and I don't gain weight. However, it does fluctuate up to 3 lbs every day. So, I only officially count my real weigh in day. I believe if I weigh MOST days the rest of my life that is what is going to help me keep the weight off. But, I also agree you can not obsess over the daily weigh ins. This is a life long journey we are on.

Have a great day!

Good morning all! I am taking the day off to study for a test so I am going to TRY to stay away from the computer. I am not going to lie, I will not stay away from the computer. WEAK!!! I had a WI today and I was up 1 pound. I am NOT upset at all because I really lost a pound and gained 2 pounds of muscle! She said I am also retaining water (just began a new pill to help control TOM.) I have been working out and hiking with school trips. This is my first gain since I started in April and in my head, this isn't really a gain. I feel better than I EVER have and this is part of the process.

Good morning! We are having a wet and chilly day here in wisco. Planning on just staying in with the kids and playing games or watching a movie. Not going to lie- I have been hungry lately for the first time on the program. I am hoping it is just the hormones. Have a great day everyone!

Kinda quiet around here this morning. We don't have snow but we do have beautiful weather in the low 50's with no humidity which is awesome. Today I am in a size 16 Lei jean, I pulled them out of the closet this morning, looked at them and said there is NO way I will fit in these but what the ****, lets try....they FIT with NO muffin top. This has made me extra hyper today. Here is wishing everyone a great Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!!

It's chilly and soggy here today - makes me glad I still have some leftover rutabaga from the crockpot the other day, definitely a hot soup lunch kinda day, Rutabaga bisque on the menu!

The plot thickens with my MIL - she went back to the hospital last night (not unexpectedly, we kinda expected the doctor would want her back last night for procedures today). Her labs were mostly stable (not going down, but not going up either), but her bilirubin was still going up. The general consensus from the GI doc and the hospitalist is that she probably has autoimmune hepatitis....her immune system bugged out and attacked the cells of her liver as if they were a virus. They'll do a HIDA scan, ERCP and liver biopsy to confirm, but if that's the case it means simple treatment with steroids and most importantly NO SURGERY! Hoping to hear some good stuff tomorrow when the results come back

i love using coconut flour!! you can make some awesome coconut shrimp!!
coconut flour is more dense and can be lumpy so you have to make sure not to skimp on the wet ingredients and to mix mix mix!!! you can also let it sit and "soak" in the moisture before baking too. that will help soften the coconut flour.

sometimes its best to use a little almond flour or flax meal flour along with the coconut flour to help it bind.

i love that it does not overpower the item you are cooking with coconut taste....its more or a hint of a taste!!

That is just doesn't sound good...I hope she okay and they can find some answers and help soon.

What a great day! Jeans with no muffin top is always a wonderful thing!

Well today is my 4th WI. I can feel I have lost some again this week...not sure how much. I can for sure feel the hormones surging through my body today too. I had a hysterectomy about 11 years ago, but they left my ovaries so while I don't have a "tom" I still have fluctuations and some sort of a cycle of hormones that seems to become quite visible when I losing weight...guess it is all the hormones stored in the fat. I am teary eyed this morning and just want to crawl back in bed. I got teary eyed over watching one of my little roosters crowing this morning..he is just a little guy and is growing up. Then I got teary eyed when I looked outside and the little rain mist we were having had turned to snow. Really...crying over the snow...has to be hormones! So I am going to just keep drinking the water and try to flush them out...I hate not being in control of them.

I will report back this afternoon after my WI with my results. Have a great 100% OP day everyone.
