Default Can coffee hinder weightloss?

I've read different things about coffee; some saying it can help with weightloss, others saying it doesn't affect it at all and some saying it hurts weightloss. I drink about two big cups of coffee every other day with stevia and a tbsp of sugar free coffee mate. What is everyone's thoughts? Is coffee okay or should I just cut it out altogether?

If you're not loading it with extra calories from milk/cream and sugar, there is absolutely zero evidence that coffee will harm your weight loss, and some evidence that it will actually help.

There are actually a lot of health benefits associated with coffee - here's a nice summary from Harvard:

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritio...stions/coffee/

Now, for general health reasons, you might want to consider organic coffee, as coffee beans are one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world. But in terms of weight loss? Drink up!

I know for a fact that caffeine can help weight loss. A few years ago I used caffeine pills in a very unhealthy way to melt lbs off. It suppresses your appetite and speeds up your body. A couple cups of coffee a day won't hurt. I still drink a cup occasionally when I'm way to sluggish to get myself going any other way.

I think it helps. I would have to ditto the comments above about health benefits. Plus, personally it helps me feel full.

For me, coffee acts as an appetite suppressant. I have been drinking 2 cups of coffee every day for the past few months with no ill effects.

I drink 2+ cups of coffee a day.. with NO cream or sugar though. Coffee itself isn't bad..but the stuff you can add to it can make it pretty unhealthy lol.

i have a cup (or 2) of coffee everyday! i add a little bit of milk & sugar cause coffee by itself is too bitter. i've managed to lose 25+ while drinking coffee everyday (: like other people said, just don't go crazy with the sugar, milk, cream, etc.

I think it helps! That coffee mate has gross ingredients, so watch out for that, though!

I drink 1-2 cups a day with Stevia and coconut milk .

I went without coffee for about a month, switching to herbal teas to see if reducing caffeine would do anything for me... I didn't notice any difference with weight loss.

I don't notice a difference when drinking or not drinking it. Maybe try it for a few weeks and see how it affects you. It is very difficult to give up coffee.

I don't think it does, at least not for me. But like others said, it totally depends on what you put in your coffee. I tend to put a little bit of splenda and creamer in, usually 2 cups with a total of up to 50 calories.

This is a little off topic, but what brands of Stevia do you use? I am ditching the sugar in my coffee for Stevia but I find it bitter tasting, though I've had Stevia at friend's houses that aren't bitter at all. I've tried Whole Foods brand and Central Market brand. Any suggestions?
