Default Light Bleeding...This might be TMI

Hey guys,

It's been 2.5 months since I started a restricted calorie diet (1200-1400). Last month, right before TOM, I thought I was spotting (never happened before). This month, it's happening again but I realized its from the...anal region. It's bright red, so it has to be from the rectal/anal area, not the intestine or colon.

I think it's simply because of constipation and related tissue tearing but I'm planning to make a doctor's appt.

Just wondering if anyone experienced anything similar?

Sometimes this "spotting" can be mucous from hemorrhoids, which is typically dark brown in color and can mimic blood. That's the only thing I can think of. Definitely time for a doctor's visit.

I had an anal fissure just after I had my second baby - definitely brought on by constipation (and other postpartum hormone swings, I'm sure...). Just like you describe - BRIGHT red blood, plenty of it for me, and happened pretty much every time I had to have a BM. They're just a small tear in the lining, but they bleed pretty copiously, and do take time to heal. Make sure you have plenty of water and fiber (but not excessive amounts of it which can constipate as well!) in your diet. A stool softener in the short term can also help.

GL!

I have a hemorhoid I got after having a baby. Once in a gray moon it will act up and it will bleed - from constipation.

If your diet is constipating (which doesn't have anything to do with frequency of bowel movements, but hardness to pass the stool), then add some more fiber. Truly an apple a day does help a LOT. Constipating foods are rice, bananas, chocolate...
