Default Breakfast

One of my biggest issues is breakfast. When I was younger (and lighter) I didn't eat breakfast. Now that I'm older and have read more I've found I need to eat breakfast...but what? Sometimes I have to be at work at 6 in the morning and before that I have to drop my daughter off with my grandmother so not much time to eat. Anyone have some good breakfast ideas for on the go? Besides the 200 calorie pop tarts lol

Slimfast or nonfat yogurt are a couple of old standbuys for me. No preparation needed.

You could prepare your breakfast the night before (even do a week at a time). I often do egg white frittatas with spinach, mushrooms (any veggie really) and some cheese. Just pop it in the microwave in the AM.

I've been doing smoothies here and there lately also. I have a single serving blender that doubles as a sports bottle. So in a rush, I can blend and be out the door in a matter of minutes.

Otherwise, I'm not really a "sweets" person, so I lean more towards something savory for breakfast (i.e. eggs, turkey bacon, sweet potato hash, wheat toast, cream cheese).

Basically, if you dont like breakfast foods, there are no rules as to what you can have and preparing it in advance is a HUGE time saver.

Like Bargoo mentioned - there are also no prep options like yogurt, slimfast too!

I've thought about getting those eggies (sp?) and mixing it up with some ham or something but didn't know if anyone had ever tried that. I've got some slimfast that I'm going to try tomorrow. The other issue is I have to go to lunch at 10:30 in the morning, any ideas to keep me full until dinner time?!

I can have stuff in the office with me and usually I grab whatever is on the front end. (I work for a grocery store in the cash office so I have unhealthy stuff on the front and good stuff throughout the store.) I'm a bored eater so that doesn't help!

Lately I've been making a green smoothie and a hard-boiled egg. I have a lot more energy in the mornings and don't get quite as tired. I don't love breakfast (except when it's a nice, leisurely weekend thing) but I find that it's very satisfying.

My out the door breakfast is a 90 cal fiber one bar, and a yogurt or banana. Seems to keep me full for a while.

If you go to lunch so early, what time do you get out of work?

You might actually benefit from shifting everything around. For example you have your breakfast at 10:30 during your scheduled lunch (why eat in the morning if you aren't hungry?) your lunch whenever you get out of work and dinner later on.

If you need something in the morning, have a small snack

I love that idea!

If you do feel hungry in the mornings when you're going to work, you can try portable breakfasts - any number of sandwiches, "traditional breakfast" with eggs, veggies, cheese, sausage/ham/turkey, like this egg and bacon sandwich.

You can make them the night before, wrap in wax paper and microwave in the morning.

I often go "non-traditional" and microwave a pre-made veggie burger and use a high fiber/low calorie wrap burrito style - throw on some spinach, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard and pickles, or even BBQ sauce, jalapenos, blue cheese and spinach. I can eat it while I drive to drop off my daughter at schoo

I love skinnytaste, so here are some ideas that are just from her website that can be frozen and microwaved in the morning to eat on the go:

You can also make a strata or frittata and freeze it until it sets, then cut and individually wrap the servings. Another idea is food that is made small and portable already like baked oatmeal, whole wheat muffins, or mini omelettes.

I love all of thse ideas! I tried the slim fast shake this morning and I was still hungry even after I drank it slow but I held off until lunch to eat again. I'm going to try eggies tonight and try them out and add ham, onion, etc. in them. I've tried to do the breakfast thing at my "lunch" time and it didn't work so well since I have a 3 yr old. When dinner time came i wasn't hungry and she was starving.
