Default Laughing Cow Points Question???

Good Morning!

I have a question regarding the Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedges.

Serving Size - 1 Wedge
Fat - 1.5g
Carb - 1g
Fiber - 0g
Protein - 2g

So, I wedge = 1 point+

If you use the whole package (8 wedges) it could be calculated as 8 points OR 5 points. I am getting the 5 points by multiplying the Fat, Carb, Fiber, and Protein by 8....

How do you calculate if you have more than 1 serving? Do you multiply each (fat, carb, fiber, protein) by the amount of the serving or calculate the points for 1 serving and then multiply?

I hope this doesn’t sound too confusing! Your feedback is appreciated!!!!

5 is the correct one. Actually you can have 2 wedges for 1 point+.

2 wedges comes out to 2 pts + according to the NI. 1 pt per wedge.

Yeah it's a matter of slight confusion - the info in the online database says 2 pp for 2, but if you enter the nutritional info manually off the label into etools (well, it was this way for my label anyway) it stays one pp when you a second one. I realized that by accident because I manually entered it when I first joined, before I realized it was already in there.

So how are you supposed to calculate something if you have more than 1 serving? Do you multiply each (fat, carb, fiber, protein) by the amount of the serving or calculate the points for 1 serving and then multiply by the amount of servings you had? Or see which number is higher and use it? Very confusing!!!

I multiply each macronutrient (fat, carbs, fiber, protein) by the number of servings (however many servings that might be), and then determine the points that way.

I was just using the site to determine the points...

You've said that the nutrient info was:

Fat = 1.5
Carb = 1
Fiber = 0
Protein = 2

That would add up to 5 points per 8 servings...

I went to see what was in the database... guess what?

The Laughing Cow Light Original Cheese Wedges aren't in the system! Only some of the flavored ones. And those have different nutritional information, so if we use the eTools they come out with different amounts.

I'd use the 5 points for all 8 wedges.

Mexico, just curious--is there a recipe your using that calls for all 8 wedges? I LOVE Laughing Cow and/or Weight Watchers Cheese wedges and Baby Bell Cheese, yummmmmm!

I just want to make sure that you're getting the right nutritional info for the wedges. I actually use the Garlic & Herb flavor, too! Love 'em!

It's strange, though, in the system they have the nutritional information for the Garlic & Herb flavor as follows:

Fat = 2
Carb = 1
Fiber = 0
Protein = 2.5

.... but I checked the database against the packaging, and you're absolutely right with how you typed it out earlier! I -do- know that legally companies are actually allowed to round down, and to not include certain ingredients within the nutritional content (Crazy to think they can do that... but it's legal) So it's possible that Weight Watchers actually has the full scoop of what's in the food.

I found this posted:

You might notice discrepancies between the PointsPlus values you see on our site for foods with these ingredients, and the values for these foods you get using the online calculator. Use our database for the most accurate values.
I'd err on the side of caution, and follow the database, which then turns 8 servings into 7 points, not five points like earlier thought.

I hope this helps in the future with which points to use if the food item your looking for is in the database! Sorry for any confusion, I just wanted to make sure we weren't undervaluing your points!

Can you really eat all 8 wedges at once? I enjoy one or two, but after that, they start leaving an odd feeling on my tongue.

Or maybe you are eating all 8 over the course of a day?
