Default Skirt/Dress Question (Maybe a little tmi?)

Hey ladies ( and gents, if you're into skirts and kilts, because hey why not?)
I have a question that is kind of embarrassing to ask but here goes:

When you wear skirts or dresses how do you stop it from hurting where your thighs rub together? I've never worn skirts before so this is a new issue for me.

I'm down to a 12/10 in skirts but that doesn't do diddly-squat for my upper, inner thigh area. My thighs rub together and it hurts. Any ideas? I'd rather not wear skorts or shorts under a skirt but is this my only hope?

I have this problem too! SOOO annoying!

I bought a cheap pair of cyclist short and sometimes wear it under a skirt. It helps me go through the day without wanting to litteraly chopping off this inner thigh LOL

You need to buy some baby powder (scented or unscented, your choice) and apply a generous amount of powder to your inner thighs about 15-20 minutes before putting on the skirt/dress. Rub the powder in as best you can and then wait 20 minutes until it's absorbed so that you don't get it on the skirt or have it falling down your legs. If it's summer and you are sweating a lot, you may need to re-apply every few hours. You can get small bottles at the drugstore that can be stashed in a purse (just make sure they don't spill! I keep mine in ziplock just in case!).

I have heard that you can do the same thing with a deodorant, but that idea doesn't really appeal to me. The powder is nicer to apply than a chalky or sticky deodorant in my opinion.

The less comfortable option is various types of undergarments/pantyhose/tights or shorts. You can buy pantyhose that rather than having a full leg, they are like a pair of pantyhose shorts. Those help with the rubbing/chafing. There are other undergarments you can find as well - check a good department store. Depending on the weather, just wearing a pair of tight-fitting bike shorts or thin leggings works too. I actually love the look of cute leggings under dresses/skirts.

Man, I have that problem even when I'm a size 4. Hooray for being blessed with ample thighs! Haha.

Athletics companies make things for runners designed to alleviate this problem. It's basically made like a stick of deodorant, but without the deodorant in it. One brand is called Body Glide, and I use that when I run because my thighs hate me. Also, I think Monistat makes an anti-chafing gel type stuff which is more geared toward us ladies.

Oh chub-rub. Mine has gotten less severe with weight loss, but I still have to be mindful of conditions when I wear skirts or dresses. If it's hot and I'll be walking much, no skirts for this girl. Sitting in an air conditioned office all day, skirt it up!

Ooh, good ideas guys, thanks! I'll try looking for that runner's stuff, that sounds good. And that idea with the powder is cool.

I actually found a pair of what looked like short spandex shorts (bike shorts) in the ladies underwear section of walmart, they were white, cotton spandex blend, they were perfect and were amazingly comfortable!

My job requires me to wear a skirt - and do a lot of walking. I find Vaseline works the best. Baby poweder's ok too.

I buy split slips. I have gotten them at stores from WalMart to Macys. I have them in black and white and in three different lengths. They work!

I have this problem, and it has discouraged me from wearing skirts sometimes. I have 2 great options. Monistat makes Soothing care Chafing relief powder-gel. You can also get 'Fresh Breasts' and 'Silky Sheets' from Athena's Home Novelties (fyi- they sell sex toys, just so thats not a surprise if you go to their website). They smell good and do similar things as the chafing creme. They turn from a lotion or gel to a powder on your skin. Then you wont smell like baby powder, which isn't my favorite smell. The powder and deoderant work as well. The monistat and athena's options both last quite a while as well... for the longer nights out.

I second (or third) Body Glide. If I don't have that, I use deoderant. I don't like baby powder. I feel like if I sweat it becomes.. just nasty. I don't like wearing extra layers either - I hate Spanx and any shapers.

Same as above, spanx or shorts, etc.

Also Monistat anti-chafing gel. Interesting tip on that...it is multitasking. You can use it as face primer under your makeup because it is made of the same things in expensive primers, AND you can use it on your FEET when you wear super uncomfortable shoes that rub! It helps to reduce the friction from the shoes.

Thanks for this thread!!! I was just thinking about this for all the miniskirts i want to wear! Do the gels and deodorants disappear or is there a film?
