Default helloooo

Hi all,

I'm new here and i have my first seminar this week and hopefully intake meeting directly after. WLS is something i've been thinking about and researching for a long time, i most assuredly want the vertical sleeve. it seems like the best option for me. i'm 5'9 285 or so and want to get to 160-150 ultimately. so far ive told my parents and husband and a couple of friends but i'm going to leave it at that for now as i've found that people have a lot of opinions i jsut don't want peole trying to talk me out of it. and after years of diet excercise and going up and down, i want wls as an aid to my existing diet and excercise, been considering it for ten years lol, it's time, i'm 32 and want ot be healthy for me my hubs and our girls.
obviously there are fears which is why i was so hesitant about GB or the lapband, the sleeve seems like the least invasive. i don't have many health issues so i didn't want to break that which didn't need fixing so to speak.
i'd love to hear about all of you and get some warm fuzzies and advice and all. this is probably the biggest hitng im gonna do to my body.

thanks

Welcome! I'm not a wealth of info-i'm 6 weeks post-op now and feeling my way through my new way of eating! But I understand your hesitation to share your plans. I didn't care too much if family members told others-i received 99& support from everyone. Only one good friend had anything negative to say-which was disheartening because she's witnessed my WL journey for years (which included training for and walking 2 marathons thankyouverymuch) and she had the gall to ask me what kind of exercise I had tried (as if I don't know how to exercise).

Anyway-I did it for similar reasons-I have a 4 yr old and i hate that I can't keep up with her. I hoping to be riding bikes with her this summer!

There's a lot of great info and wisdom here. Good luck!

welcome aboard! how did the seminar go? did it make you LESS nervous? or MORE nervous? it sounds like you've researched and asked a lot of Qs - and that's good. DON'T STOP ASKING!
