Default Is this actually doing anything ????

Let me start by saying that I am extremely out of shape. I have never in my life been fit. I am trying to lose weight and also I have this dream of becoming a (more) fit person who exercises. My plan was to start walking, but with three kiddos and 64 feet of snow on the ground I haven't quite gotten to it yet.

So I was thinking today - I HAVE to start SOMETHING. I drug an old plastic step from the 90s up from my basement. I think it originally came with a video way back when. Anyway, I set a timer for 15 minutes, turned on the radio, and stepped up and down on the thing to the beat of the music - when I would get extra tired I would sort of march in place until I could start up again. I shocked myself by making it through the whole 15 minutes (did I mention how out of shape I am)

My question to those people who exercise is - Do you think this would actually do anything? I could definitely feel that my heart rate was up, and I could feel a bit of a burn in my legs. I was thinking of setting the timer for 16 minutes tomorrow, 17 the next day .... I know I have to start somewhere - But am I actually doing any good? Thanks for any input

Absolutely it did something - it got you moving! It's all about taking small steps in the beginning and working your way up. Nobody runs a marathon in their first workout. I bet you will be surprised at how quickly you are able to increase.

That is great! After your 15 minutes you could walk for 30 additional minutes outside or in place. When you start working your way up you will b e able to do 30 min all on the stair stepper. way to with your start!

Wow, what a great example of meeting your body where it is and finding a creative way to push yourself. We all have our barriers- whether it's being out of shape, an injury, lack of motivation, etc- and have to remember that it's really important to find a way to get beyond those. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on your first workout!

I think it sounds great! I too am very out of shape and have started exercising at home until I build up my cardio and am brave enough to step into a gym/public park

If you keep it up, the results will soon start to show, well done!
