My favorite holidays/events happen to be my birthday and New Year's. (At 49, I'm probably too old to be excited about birthdays--so sue me.
)
My weight loss has been so gradual, especially in 2010 (second year of new lifestyle), that sometimes I forget how incredibly amazing it is not only not to be obese anymore, but not to be overweight.
I'm cautiously optimistic that I'm prepared for maintenance. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the long-term, recent, and future maintainers who have shared your successes and struggles. Although I'm social enough to be well-liked at work, I'm basically a loner with few friends and virtually no family, so the forum format is incredibly beneficial to me--I can participate when the mood strikes, or I can lurk if I don't really feel like contributing. I didn't find 3fc until fairly recently, but I expect that it will be one of my go-to resources in maintenance.
I have a somewhat unusual life that wouldn't suit some people, but it works for me. I'm grateful to be where I am and excited about the future.
I know that some people like the idea of a shiny new year, while others are more successful if they think of it as any other day. Whatever category you're in, I wish you a happy and healthy 2011.
