I think I am going to try to get put on an appetite suppressant from my Dr. I'm so used to eating all day every day that apparently my stomach has stretched and I feel like I am starving all the time.
Don't get me wrong, I eat ALL the TIME but I eat low calorie foods. It seems like the fatty foods are more filling. Is it just me?
Anyways, do any of you have any advice on dealing with unnecessary hunger?
Hi There!
do you drink enough water? sometimes your body mitakes thirst for hunger. Also, one lady said yesterday about habit eating, just find a new habit. i'm going to try Solitaire
Im going to try to eat gum I heard if you chew enough, your body keeps you from feeling hungry. I dont know if its true, but Im going to give it a shot.
Are you sure you're eating enough? What is your daily amount of calories that you're aiming for? A little bit of hunger is okay, but if you shouldn't feel like you're starving all of the time.
I don't think that's enough food to start off a diet with. Usually people are going for 1200 to 1500, and if your working out, that cuts your 1100 calories way down, so your body thinks its in starvation mode and it saves all the fat your eating.
To me, fiber is more filling than fat. I am way more satiated with a big salad and lean protein than a big mac. It may take some experimenting with "volumetrics" to find out what fiber-rich, lean foods will fill you up, but I can tell you that you will have a lot more luck with whole foods than processed foods. I think I can eat about 10 100 calorie packs before I am even kind of full.
As for your calorie counts, are you sure you need to start out so low? 1100 is an awfully low starting point. I would think you could get away with eating quite a bit more. Just keep in mind that you may be inclined to lower your calories to kick a plateau and I always think it's better to be able to start high to have something to work with. Why eat so little if you don't have to? In addition to the 1100 you're eating now, maybe you can throw in a snack or two? Finally, are you getting enough good fats? Trans fats and the like are good to avoid, but there are plenty of good fats out there (olive oil, nuts, avocado, etc...)
if you're eating only boiled chicken and grapes with sprite, you're going to be hungry. I recommend you take a good look at your meal plan to get more food in there because it's lacking in calories and variety.
These foods are the healthiest out of all the foods that I like. I wish I liked a bigger variety of low calorie foods, it would make this easier for me.

I know when you're just starting out it's easy to stick to what you know. In fact, I get teased pretty regularly about the lunch that I eat most days. You do what works, right? But I've also tried many MANY recipes and foods. Some of them are good and have made it into regular "rotation". Others, not so much.
But I swear, some of my most favorite meals have been found within threads here, so I encourage you to take a peek around. The 100 lb club, Weight Watchers, South Beach- I've "stolen" ideas from all of these forums, even though I follow my own plan. For example, I HATE yellow squash. With. A. Passion. So I just assumed that I hated squash in general. Who would of thought that I would now LOVE spaghetti squash and marinara? Not this girl!
Girl I would definitely be upping my calories! I eat between 1400 to 1600 and still lose weight. At 234 I ate 1800 and lost weight. It is always better to start high then to start low. If I were you I'd start at around 2000 per day of HEALTHY, good for you calories. You might initially see a weight gain as your body adjusts to the higher amount of calories, but then you'll start losing consistently and you'll feel so much better.
What are some of the unhealthy things you used to eat? There are tons of recipes you can find online that take unhealthy recipes and make them healthy. Try www.hungrygirl.com or some of the recipe forums here.
