Continuing our resolutions beyond the first month of the year, into February -- the shortest month, but also the sweetest month, since its main holiday is all about love.
My goal this month is to keep showing up for the challenging yoga class at my gym, and also to make myself feel better about my Sunday swimming class. I have begun to dread it because I have so much trouble keeping up with the pack. I need to learn how to breathe correctly. The swimming instructor says I'm strong & there is no reason I shouldn't be able to do consecutive laps. But I am not breathing right & I hang onto the side of the pool after one full length.
Feb. 1: 60 minutes bike, abs work
Feb. 2: 60 minutes elliptical, 60 minute yoga class
Feb. 3: 60 minutes bike, weights
Feb. 4: 60 minutes elliptical, 45 minute Pilates class
Feb. 5: 30 minutes elliptical backwards, 30 minutes arc trainer, 60 minute yoga class
Feb. 6: 45 minutes bike, 15 minutes rowing, weights, at hotel gym
Feb. 7: 60 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes swimming at hotel gym
Feb. 8: 60 minutes bike, weights
Feb. 9: 60 minutes elliptical, 60 minute yoga class
Feb. 10: 30 minutes elliptical backwards, 30 minutes arc trainer, weights. I trudged through the start of a snowstorm to the gym, which was open & still running its morning classes.
Feb. 11: 60 minutes elliptical, 45 minutes Pilates class
Feb. 12: 60 minutes arc trainer, 60 minute yoga class, weights
Feb. 13: 30 minutes treadmill at 5.3 mph, 30 minutes bike, 45 minutes Pilates class
Feb. 14: Weights. Also, 60 minute swimming class, in which I dropped down to the Intermediate Level. Just three of us in the class, so the instructor & her assistant gave us more attention. I really focused on my breathing & free style stroke. I need to relax. (I am not the world's most relaxed person.)
Feb. 15: 60 minutes arc trainer, 45 minutes Pilates class. Off for Presidents' Day, so I could go to a day class.
Feb. 16: 30 minutes arc trainer, 30 minutes elliptical backwards, 60 minute yoga class
Feb. 17: 60 minutes bike, weights
Feb. 18: 60 minutes treadmill, 45 minutes Pilates class
Feb. 19: 60 minutes arc trainer, 60 minute yoga class
Feb. 20: 60 minutes elliptical, weights. Walked around Chinatown to see the dragon dancers & on Mulberry Street and in Soho with a visiting friend for several hours. Which may have helped burn off my lunch in Chinatown, though it was mostly wondrous vegetables (lotus root, among others) & tofu & sauteed flounder in white sauce.
Feb. 21: 60 minutes bike, some abs work
Feb. 22: 60 minutes bike, weights
Feb. 23: Bent over & picked up a heavy mattress today incorrectly, without bending my knees. I felt a twinge & something pulled in the small of my back. Now it's tender there. So I did the recumbent bike for 60 minutes, and then 60 minutes of yoga, being careful with the asanas. None of them even gave a twinge to that part of my back, so it was okay.
Feb. 24: 60 mintes recumbent bike, weights. Back still tender. Worse from sitting in my chair at work all day, even though it's an Aeron.
Feb. 25: 60 minutes arc trainer & back stiff afterward till I stretched. Thinking I may skip Pilates or participate selectively in class tonight (if snow doesn't cancel it).
Feb. 26: 60 minute yoga class for six of us who made it through the snow, 60 minutes elliptical & found it to be a chore. Because I last did it five days ago?
Feb. 27: 60 minutes circuit training class, 45 minute Pilates class. The circuit training teacher has been after me to abandon my hour-long stints on the cardio machine & try his class. So I did. It was a nice change but I am not leaving off the machines. I'll probably try to do this class once a week.
Feb. 28: 60 minute swimming class.
My goals this month will be hard to meet as I have several obstacles to overcome. I will be at Disneyland this weekend and though I'll be walking, I won't be at the gym. I also have my dh's and my dd's birthdays and I don't think I'll be able to go to the gym those days.
So, I'll try to do 20 days of exercise and 1100 minutes.
You go Saef! Good job on sticking with your challenging yoga and swimming.

For me today, Feb. 4: 60 minutes latin dancing class
Totals: 3 days
190 minutes
I'm going to Disneyland for a few days (for the first time!) so I'm not going to get any official exercise but I will get plenty of walking in. I'll hopefully be back in time Sunday to get to the gym.
I teach 3 indoor cycling classes a week --
I also lift weights for about 20 minutes after each class --
I work for two GYMs, but joined a gym a block away from my house to help support my mother with her weightloss/excercise goals --- She needs for me to at least check up on her while I do my own thing and she does hers --
I would like to add 2 more days to my workout regiment , meaning 5 days in total --- on those two days I would add 30 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of additional weight training . Mom has lived a very sedetary lifestyle up until now and she can only handle an hour tops !
Thanks saef for starting this thread! I haven't been around much but I am back on track, so here it goes........
Tues 2nd 1 hour treadmill
Wed 3rd 30 min stationary bike ab work and arm and upper body weights
Thursday 4th 45 min treadmill
Friday 5th 30 min stationary bike upper body weights
Sat. 30 min stationary bike
Sunday day off

Oh no! Disney and the kids made me sick (I chaperoned 150 high school choir kids). I haven't been to the gym in a week and I miss it! Still have fever though.... doubt I'll make my Feb. goals now

I'm still here but barely! Still getting over my illness and slowly returning to exercise. I'm hoping to be back to "normal" this week.
