Default Thoughts on sodium?

Hey ladies! I was just looking for some.thoughts or advice on sodium. I started. thinking about it after hearing a forum thread concerning frozen meals. I love lean cuisines. They offer such variety and I have one with a salad almost every day for lunch. And for someoner who works 13 hour days you can't beat ther convenient factor. Any thoughts? Do you watch your sodium intake like a hawk?

I don't worry much about sodium because I have low blood pressure- too little sodium and I get dizzy

RDA is 2400mg a day and I find it one of the easier things to monitor. I do notice tight rings and pants buttons when I have overdone it on sodium, though. It's a good way to keep me in check!

I do watch my sodium, but I'm not obsessive about it. I read somewhere that it's okay to have a little extra sodium here and there, but it's when you're having lots of it everyday for many days in a row that it becomes a health problem. (not sure where i read that or i'd post the link, sorry!)

I love frozen meals like lean cuisines and smart ones too.. it's typical for me to eat one every day. I haven't had a problem so far !

I think if that's your own high sodium item for the day you are fine (unless you use a lot of salt at home)- do you track your sodium intake? I find days I don't eat out I'm always within range- but as soon as I eat out I'm over the recommended daily amount!

I try to be aware of what I'm eating and avoid it if the sodium in it is ridiculously high. But if it's easy for you to eat a Lean Cuisine for lunch, I wouldn't sweat it. Healthwise, it's important for you not to over-do salt, but as long as you don't drink soy sauce out of the bottle and make sure to take in lots of water, I think you're going to be fine.

Some of the Lean Cuisines aren't that bad, if it is for instance your entire lunch. The chicken ranch flatbread has less than a quarter of your rda of sodium for the day.

I try to not eat anything super super salty, and if I do have a sodium splurge, I'll make sure I drink extra water. I don't wear any rings or anything so I don't notice it that way, but I always feel like I see it in my face the next day.

Thanks for all the input ladies! It definitely helps put things into perspective. And forest I think you're right about some of them not being too terribly high-- after reading the initial thread I of course ran to my freezer to check the sodium content in those little buggers--- and most of them are at 25% or less of the RDA--- one of my favorites only has 8% woot!

Yah this has been my problem lately and with the daily plate Ive been trying to track it as much as I can. I dont salt my food never have but I like chips and pizza and ketchup....all the stuff with high sodium. So most of the days of the week I try to keep it right around 2500 or lower. But my BP is usually high 90's low 100's and I work out so they say its okay if we tend to get more Na daily. I also drink water only so I hope Im flushin my kidneys out.
I can tell a difference in the scale and rings when Im eating too much. Usually Ill just watch my Na for the next couple days to correct itself

Healthy Choice has much lower sodium content than other frozen meals - the same thing goes for their soups, I've found. They are higher in calories though. Just a thought...

Well there goes my favorite morning beverage! Nothing beats a heated cup of soy sauce to wake you on on those cold winter mornings!

lol Meg.

I know that the RDA is 2500 per day, but I feel like if I have even half of that my body goes haywire. I'm just not a big salt person, and when I am, boy does the scale react.
