Running Challenge - Week #1
HERE IT IS!!! I decided I will just post one week at a time (the challenge will run for 8 weeks) so that people don't look too far ahead and think it is impossible! (It is not!)
This will start this Sunday.
So.....
BEGINNERS:
The goal is to "run" at least 3 days this week. And the plan is this simple... Walk for 5 minutes, run for 2 minutes, walk for 5, run for 2, walk for 5, run for 2, walk for 5. That's it!
You can do it outside, on the treadmill, whatever - just do it!
5K:
This is a training program for a 5K, but even if you don't plan on running any race, if you occassionally run and would like to be able to run over 3 miles at a time eventually, this program is for you.
This week's plan - Walk 5 minutes, Run 1.5 miles, Walk 3 minutes, Run 5 minutes, cool down. Do this 3 times this week.
Now... if you 5Kers can't figure out exactly how long to run to reach 1.5 miles, estimate how much time it should take you (i.e. if you run about an 11 minute mile, this part will take you 16.5 minutes) and make sure you run for that much time each day this week. The overall point is to build up every week!
