Default Books That Have Changed Your Life

Inspired by Simona in the "Things that have changed your life" thread...

What books have you read that have fundamentally changed your life?

My list (until I think of more, and I'm sure that I will):

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, by Barbara Kingsolver...I've read it so many times that it's literally falling apart.

In Defense of Food - Michael Pollan

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Healthiness and Eat, Drink, and be Merry, both by Dr. Dean Edell.

1984 and Animal Farm - both by George Orwell.

I'll post mine again:

"A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. I'd recommend this to EVERYONE! It's fabulous - it really makes you look at yourself in the truest sense of yourself.

Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man by Fannie Flagg. I first read it when I was 13 and carry it with me everywhere

Staying Healthy With the Seasons by Elson M. Haas. I adore that book and have for about 15 minutes.

Never read anything by Dr. Dean Edell but I sure like what he has to say on the radio.

I would say Johnny Tremain...My teacher read that to us in 7th grade...got me going to the library!

Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard changed my life when I was a young adult. It's the only fiction book I ever highlighted and dog-eared.

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf and Slaughterhouse 5, by Kurt Vonnegut. They get better every time I read them.

I'm terrible with titles but Barbara Kingsolver has changed my outlook on life and making the choice to be a green consumer. Also the Handmaiden reinforce's my feminist beliefs.

I don't remember the exact title, but the book that changed my life was my Constitutional Law book, circa 1977. I was in ConLaw class one day and the professor was relentlessly grilling student after student on an obscure point and no one got the answer right. Then he called upon one guy who had read the footnotes to some ancient case in the 700+ page textbook and brilliantly answered the question. Wow, I thought, that guy is really smart! I ended up marrying him and we're coming up on our 30th anniversary this year.
