Default You gotta laugh!

I was at a wedding the other night, and I was up all night dancing on the dance floor. Several folks were watching me all night, and while I was a bit bugged out by a couple of them, I didn't say anything and just enjoyed the music and had fun. Just as we were leaving, a couple of people came up to me and said they wished that they had my energy. I knew what they meant- they were thin people, and they were insinuating that they couldn't believe that I was on the dance floor all night long, while they got winded after a couple of fast songs and had to sit down.

This is just one example of many to where folks assume that us heavier folks are out of shape. Quite the contrary, a lot of us are in better shape that those who have never had a weight problem, because they don't need to exercise due to their fast metabolisms. Such is the case with my sister and niece- both have admitted they wished they had my energy, but they don't need to exercise as they need to gain weight, not lose it.

While I wonder why I got the fate that I did with being overweight most of my life, I have to admit, I'd rather be my size and enjoying life than to sit like my sister does and just talk on the phone gossiping or watch TV. I'd love to have her metabolism, though- at least I would be able to ride the roller coaster with my youngest daughter if I was her size.

That is my goal for now until June- to get the another 40 pounds off (more would be sweeter, but I'll take that amount for now) of me so that I can ride all those amusements rides with my daughter again and not be embarrassed that the safety bar or belt isn't big enough for my protruding stomach and have to get off of the ride like I had to this past July on several rides.

I hope I can do it. I'm off to a good start.

I once had a ride attendant at Six Flags stand on the bar to make it go down - he did it as kindly as he could and I was glad I didn't have to get off but it was still embarrassing!

Loved the story thanks for sharing and showing them that overweight doesn't mean we can't shake our grove thing!

Amusement rides were one of my first wake up calls. Yah I still fit on all of them but I noticed how squished I was and how if I gained much more weight the seat belt on some rides wouldn't have fit over my larger that life hips and butt.

Dance like no one is watching!! WTG, enjoying yourself regardless. I've always been really self-conscious on the dance floor. Not my favorite spot to be. I'm from a very large Scandinavian family.... and they LOVE their dancing. Everything from the Polka to the Chicken Dance.

I'm looking forward to the point where I won't be so easily winded!
