Default Deli meat serving sizes?

These have always really, really confused me. Every time I look for a serving size, it's listed as "normal slice". Is this the same as the enormous, fold it over twice to get it on a sandwich, deli meat slices I'm familiar with? Because 35 calories in what is a pretty large slice of turkey seems kind of low to me.

Did I miss out on the "this is a slice of deli meat" memo or am I making a big deal out of nothing?

LOL...I musta missed the memo, too.

I go by how big are the slices in the packages (and read the nutrition info)...I'd venture a guess the calorie counts on the deli stuff is comparable. If you are actually at the deli, you could have them weigh it. Then you could look it up by weight.

With the deli meat you get at the counter, you'll just have to weigh it until you get a feeling of how to "eyeball it". Do you have a food scale at home?
If not, I'm not sure what to do.

Even if you don't have a scale at home, take the weight of the package and divide it by the number of servings you plan to get out of it. Example: take 1/2 pound (8 oz) of turkey breast and split it into two 4 oz. portions. Like Jay said, then you figure calories by the ounce. I know that Boar's Head turkey breast is 30 calories per ounce, so a 4 oz portion = 120 calories.
