I did a quick search but didn't really find anything specific to how you set your goal weights. I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction?
I've been on the WW flex plan for about 9 weeks now and have lost 22 lbs (from 192.8 to 169.8) and while I'm really proud of this, since it is my 10% goal weight loss (yay for nifty copper keychains!), I don't really know where I should go now.
I have picked (if you look at my profile) 145lbs kind of randomly as my goal weight but I just don't know how you decide? Do you base it on your clothes? Or what? I'm 5'1.5" so at 145, my BMI will be 27 (so still technically overweight) but I haven't really been lower since high school and I don't know if I should go that low....
Congrats on the 22 lbs!! According to the WW site here is some info:
Height
(feet, inches) Weight Ranges
(in pounds)
Minimum for all adults / Recommended maximum for ages up to 25 years / Recommended maximum for ages between 25 & 45 years /Maximum for all Adults (45+)
4' 9" 92 106 111 116
4' 10" 96 110 115 120
4' 11" 99 114 119 124
5' 102 118 123 128 5' 1" 106 121 127 132
5' 2" 109 125 131 137
5' 3" 113 130 135 141
5' 4" 117 134 140 146
5' 5" 120 138 144 150
5' 6" 124 142 148 155
5' 7" 128 147 153 160
5' 8" 132 151 158 164
5' 9" 135 155 162 169
So for your height depending on your age your minimum is 106. If you're under 25 your max should be 121, if you're 25-45 your max should be 127 and if you're over 45 your max should be 132. When you get closer to goal your leader will sit down with you and you can both figure out what your goal should be. I personally am going to aim for the higher side of mine officially so I have a couple of lbs to play with so to say because once your maintain for 6 weeks you'll be considered Lifetime and you won't have to pay for meetings. But you can't go more than 2 lbs over your goal that you set with WW. If you go over then you have to pay for meetings till you get below again. But like I said your leader should be able to point you in the right direction. HTH!

My WW weight goal is officially the very highest it can be for my height according to the company. I believe it's 169, because gosh darn it, i'll have been paying a LOT of money to get there. My own personal end goal is lower, but I want to be a lifetime member by that point ^^
That's what I'm doing Faeire. My highest number according to WW is 140 (cause I'm short lol) so that's what it'll be for WW purposes. I'm gonna put my personal goal at 135 so I have a few lbs to play with.
I think I will need to talk to my leader next Wednesday because I really need to have some sort of solid number I think.
Has anyone ever had their body fat percentage measured? I had mine done by DEXA scan last year (same machine they use for osetoporosis checking) at a higher weight/less exercise time of my life and I was at 44%. I would like to actually use my real body fat percentage as opposed to my weight or my BMI or anything - but I think a DEXA scan might be too pricey. Any other good reliable ways to do it? I know skinfold testing (like they do at the gym where I go) is pretty unreliable and really depends on the person doing the testing.

Thank you for that chart. Nice to see I have set a reasonable goal. I know once I hit it I might want to go a bit lower or might be happy with a bit higher but 120 was the weight I was before I gained all this weight. I thought 120 was a good goal to set.
I am in between 5'6" and 5"7". My leader suggested that I use the weight recommendations for 5'7". I did do that, but have set my personal goal for a little lower. I have found, though, after having been at Lifetime for about three years, that the slightly higher goal weight is easier to maintain.
I was glad that I chose a bit higher goal weight. I decided not to fixate on a number. Like I said, I've been Lifetime going on three years now, and I have not had to pay to go to a meeting since that time. If I had chosen a lower goal weight, I really don't think that my maintenance would have been as successful.
