When I was at my heaviest, I was taking Xenical and lost about 20 pounds but I couldn't afford the prescription anymore. I loved it other than the "awful side effects". Just give it a few days and it will kick in. Just be very careful. lol
I took Xenical and lost about 20 lbs, but had to go off it due to side effects and then gained it all back and then some. It started out great for me, then as time wore on, any fat I ate my body couldn't handle it including polyunsaturated fat. I would literally have a garden salad with a light dressing and GROSSS side effects (oily leaky rusty liquid feces incase you were wondering). Anything with any kind of oil made me have them. This is not the case for everyone though, some people's bodies just can't handle it. One thing it does do is clue you in to fatty foods you may not have even thought were fatty. I hope it works for you! Good luck!
Due to me having had 2 strokes within the space of a week I have been prescribed xenical to try and reduce my weight a bit quicker than at present. I lost 2.5 stone without it. I'm not starting it until Monday though. Got to lose 13lbs minimum by the time GP weighs me in 10wks time. Lost 4lb at weigh in last week, but that was eating hospital food. Am still not on proper solids. Gonna weigh on Monday then starting the tablets. So only another 9lbs to go.
Any questions about Xenical I'd be happy to answer. I've lost over 50lbs in 8 months on Xenical and 23lbs prior to that. I saw my Dr today and she is very pleased with me. I've met my current 5% target in just 2 months.
BigMama, you should not expect to have side-effects, the medication works
well enough without giving yourself them. Just keep your diet low-fat and you'll be fine. Good luck with it.
I am now on day 3, no side effects so far. Not taking them at breakfast as not enough fat content to warrant it. Will see what happens when I weigh in on Monday.
To get it prescribed from a UK doctor you have to have a BMI of 30+ or have a BMI of 27 if you have a number of other conditions such as diabetes or hypertension. Many doctors also ask you to lose 5kg without the medication (mine did but I've heard of others who do not insist on this).
