Default Meds?

Hello All

I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is in taking Metformin and Januvia vs taking Janumet. At work a few co worker are diabetic and some take the 2 meds and some take the one. I do know that Janumet is Met and Januvia. Why give two when you can give one. Oh, yea, the doses equal the same. Was just curious.

Thanks

Don't know about individual cases, of course . . . but in general, there is more flexibility in two meds rather than the combined one . . . additionally, very often the combined med is the newer version and consequently considerably more expensive. The only time I honestly think there would be an advantage to the combined form would be for someone who has a great deal of difficulty swallowing pills or constantly forgets to take some of their pills?
