Default calorie distribution

hi guys

just wondered how you divvy up your calories for the day? more in the morning less at night? vice versa?

My breakfast is usally 400 cals, lunch 500, dinner 600, and a snack & "dessert" during the day for about 200 cals, making 1700 usually.

What do folks think about the big meal being at breakfast (the "eat breakfast as a king, lunch as a prince, dinner as a pauper" thing)? does that work for folks?

Just curious as to how other people "spend" their calories in the day!

I'm curious about this as well.

My dad lives by the "eat breakfast as a king, lunch as a prince, dinner as a pauper" thing but he has also added "drink as a sailor" in the evenings so no weight loss for him.

But I digress... this philosophy, I know, is supposed to be good for you but I just can't do it. I am rarely hungry before 1pm, however, I do eat breakfast and lunch but they are on the light side. My breakfasts and lunches are usually about 300 calories each (usually closer to 250) with a 100 cal snack betweeen, which leaves me with 1,000 calories for dinner and my afternoon and evening snacks. My snacks are rarely over 100 cals each so I have a pretty big dinner usually around 7:00pm then off to the gym at 8 or 8:30.

Question

I have always liked a big breakfast. I find that it keeps me going right up until lunch. However, I also find that I like a big lunch and a medium size supper. If I eat a light lunch then I am super starved for supper.

How is 1700 calories working for you? What plan are you working? How much do you exercise?

I would find that very difficult for me to stay on. I would be feeling very hungry all day and night and then I would end up needing to snack late at night.

I eat a light breakfast, then I eat snacks throughout the day and a decent sized lunch and a fairly light dinner.

hi Parmatga - i'm usually between 1700 and 1900 in a day, which is plenty. Now that i've dropped 43 lbs., I'm thinking it's time to re-evaluate and perhaps drop down to 1500 - 1700 per day.

I'm VERY stingey with my "calorie bucks" hahah meaning I won't spend 100 calories on a snack pack when I can have MORE CHICKEN for dinner hahahah I'm a food fan! so I don't do "hungry" I'm eating really well, and feel full so it's working thus far! how many calories do you have ?

I eat about 200-300 for breakfast, 300-400 for lunch and 500-600 for dinner (with an occasional 100 snack between lunch and dinner--usually only when I'm on the lower end of the calories).

Hi
My breakfast is usually between 250- 320, Lunch is between 200-400 and dinner is about 300, snacks make up the rest. This is what works for me, because I am always hungry, if I do not snack, I binge. I end up with between 1400-1600 a day, usually.

I eat 5-6 times a day, and except for my pre-workout meal after I wake up, which is smaller, they're all pretty much the same number of calories.

I don't actually count calories, although I did for years, so I have a good idea how many calories are in things. When I figure it up (loosely) in my head, my goal is to stay under 1000 calories before dinner. Then I just have a normal dinner with veggies and eat only til satisfied, and that can go anywhere from 400-600 calories for dinner (usually 400 or 500). I don't snack after dinner usually although I might add something since I get hungry sometimes.

300 for breakfast
500 for lunch
500 dinner
100 fat free half and half ( I have coffee issues )
100 or so for snacks

I try to keep my calories between 1500 and 1600 a day. I workout a minimum of one hour, 6 days a week.
