What kind of trouble? Is the pic too large, or the wrong file type? It should give a message of some sort if it doesn't take. Copy the message here and we'll figure out how to fix it
Btw, I do see a profile picture which is not the same as an avatar. Click your name and you'll get a drop menu, and you can choose to view your profile page from there. If you want the photo to appear on your posts, upload it as an avatar. You'll need to resize it first so it fits the size guidelines for avatars.
