Well, I blew January's goal! So lets try for five pounds in February. Maybe I will get it this time. I was doing so good and then it got so cold I could not get out to exercise and my back is very sore, but if I could stay away from the junk I would be alright.
Im still working on me! Fine polished works of art take time and are not to be rushed so I guess I will not be finding a quick fix to my weight problem, one day at a time, same as alcohol and nicotine addictions. Sometimes it takes a while to get it through my head.

Hi, I'm new here & this is my first post.
My goal for February is a pound a week or 4 pounds!
Hopefully I can squeeze an extra one in there making it 5.

& Walking 2 miles/day!

Oh,sweetpea 02-02-2005 10:12 AM

Hi all...

Good morning, everyone.
Did my treadmilling this morning. - 2 miles in 30 minutes....and 6,572 steps! My goal is to get in 10,000 per day, so I'm doing fine and it's only 10am! Motivated to stay on track, food-wise. Just thinking about today and wanting to crawl into bed tonight knowing I stayed OP. Hope everyone has a "good" day.
Sweetpea :^:

tljl 02-02-2005 10:44 AM

here is my daily post

I did really well yesterday. I went for a 40 minute walk. Got some stuff done around the house. Stayed on track with my calories (even when my freind brough over tim bits....AHHHHHHH)

It's really amazing how exercise makes you feel good. I always forget when I stop, then when I go again I think "oh, I'm so happy and not craby"

note: keep exercising

Does anyone have any advice on how to stick with your plan at other peoples homes? You know the places your moms, sisters, grandmas, aunts where everything is high fat and they keep saying eat eat eat. I am having such a hard time controlling myself there, I start and can't stop. Any advice or tricks or anything would be great.

So far so good. I won't know if I've lost weight until my weekly weigh-in on Friday, but I've got 30 minutes of my 140 done for the week. Tonight I plan on trying a WW recipe for baked ziti, and doing Tae-Bo and Pilates. My week rotates around my weigh-in, so I count Sunday thru Friday. Good luck ladies.

solarmama 02-02-2005 11:24 AM

Hey Tljl -

One way to help with the "eat, Manga!" relatives is to tell them ahead of time that you're on a diet, you're serious, and that you are doing this for your health. Then ask them to lay off with the fatty snacks, or at least not throw them at you. One hopes your family will respect a health choice. Another way to head it off, is to bring your own offering that is OP - enough for everyone - so that you know there will be at least one thing you can indulge in and not feel awful. For example, my MIL is hosting a superbowl party this weekend, and I've volunteered to bring salad, veggie platter with dip, and Cuban Black Beans. I intend to fill my plate from those dishes, and add teensy servings of sweet & sour kielbasa, deep-fried chicken wings, or whatever they come up with to serve that's not so good for me.

It's harder when you stay over, you're at the mercy of the household you're in - and if they only eat cheese doodles and Coke, you're stuck. I hoard food anyway, so it's easy for me to stow a jar of nuts or an orange in my luggage and snack on that. Try to find things that will work for you, and maybe suggest that you go out for dinner or breakfast, and go to a place where you can get something OP.

Good Luck!
Solarmama

I don't know WHAT thread I'm in, but Jenn, you're very welcome here! :lol3:

lizziness 02-02-2005 07:48 PM

Okay, I have decided my goals. I want to get under 220. I keep fluctuating between 227 & 223 and it's bugging the **** out of me. It's a low goal, I know, but that's what I am aiming for this time. REALISTIC!

For exercise I would like to see myself worked up to three times a week. I have been doing a lot better and I think this is attainable.

Personal goal is to put together some of my artsy crafts. Spend more time writing. And stop eating so damn much candy.

hannah_phi 02-03-2005 12:54 AM

I'm in, a bit late, but at least Im here!

Starting weight: 186 pounds

Goal: Lose 5 pounds

Personal goal: I want to only eat meals prepared outside a home (mine or a friend's) twice a week.

tljl 02-03-2005 10:46 AM

solarmama - thanks for the advice. I will try your suggestions.

I went to my Nana's yesterday for dinner. I did really well stuck to it, even desert. But the candy was my downfall. Like any good Nana there was candy in dishes everywhere. At that point my will power failed me and I ate way to much candy. I did chart my calories when I got home. On the plus side I was still within my limit, and the charting heped my to see that if I had stopped at the pie and not continued on to the candy I would have done even better.

I went to yoga as well and I feel really good today, and plan to go to the gym later on. Then I will have met my goal (gymx2 yogax1 per week)

Welcome to eveyone who has joined in. Welcome! And keep us all updated on whats going on with all of you....good or bad....we are here to support you through it all.

JEO1982 02-03-2005 11:13 AM

Update!

This morning I stepped on the scale before going to shower and it was like instant good mood! 189! Woohoo! I'm on a roll and there's no stopping me now! :D

hannah_phi 02-04-2005 04:09 PM

I'm down a pound this week. Of course it is probably from not being able to eat, but I'll take it, especially since I have PMS.

mauvaisroux 02-04-2005 04:39 PM

Well Phttttt! :p Not doing so good this week as I was sick the other day and didn't eat properly then I went out for Chinese food for a friend's birthday - although I did eat just enough to feel satisfied and did not totally :ink: out!

I have to keep some points aside for dinner on Sunday as I am going out for Indian Food with the girls while the guys stay home to watch the Superbowl :D

Oh,sweetpea 02-05-2005 09:23 AM

Hi All..

I am back from being out of town for two days. I did well dieting, given that three meals were in restaurants. I opted for protein and greens whenever possible and stayed away from sugars and starches, which always seem to awaken the hunger monster inside me. I didn't get to do any walking and today I feel it, as I am actually feeling ACHY, like I NEED to move! I will get back on my treadmill today. The GOOD news is that I didn't gain anything while gone, so I am happy about that, nor did I feel like I deprived myself, either. Trying to understand my body, what my trigger foods are, how to illiminate them from my diet and how to live with it and still enjoy eating!

Welcome to all new challengers.

Sweetpea :^:

lottie63 02-05-2005 09:29 AM

it's really easy to have healthy chinese food... instead of getting something with a sweet sauce get teriyaki or szechuan, and instead of fried chicken get grilled and either extra veggies and no rice, or brown rice...

good luck!

mauvaisroux 02-05-2005 10:02 AM

Yeah, I loaded up on the vegetable dish we ordered and only had one piece of the General Tao's chicken ( the piece was about the size of the first two fingers on your hand put together) so It wasn't too bad. I am not a fan of fried rice so I skipped that entirely.

Trixi 02-06-2005 10:01 AM

Ok, January sucked for me and I gained 5 pounds instead of losing anything. I just joined Curves (they opened one about a five minte walk from my house) and I am excited to start that. I will do this challenge this month and post more. I miss you guys and tend to let everything go when I amnot posting. Work has been a killer and I have not had any time for anything. This month will be about me!

Start Weight 154 (yuck)
Feb. goal 149

I start Curves on Tuesday and I am excited about getting exercise in my program.

Another goal is also to give up the beer and replace it with water.

Wanttolosealot 02-06-2005 12:00 PM

Ahhhhhh!!!! (screaming and stamping feet). I gained weight instead of lost. I am going to sew my mouth shut I think. Up to 247 lbs.

Universityprincess 02-06-2005 03:35 PM

I'm joining this a little late, but I am going to lose 3 pounds during February! I'm starting out at 239, so that puts me at 236...and only 4 pounds from what I weighed when I graduated from high school.

Mel

mauvaisroux 02-06-2005 10:40 PM

Welcome mel!

shoequeen69 02-07-2005 11:51 AM

Good luck to everyone. Lottie I love your new pic! Very cute chickie! :D

mauvaisroux 02-07-2005 02:44 PM
