Hello alternachicks! Long time no chat!

Saw darkwitch's post and just wanted to quickly respond before I have to dash to pick up the ungrateful child at work...

Exercise is the BEST help for Fibro! It's hard to get into the habit, especially when you hurt, but trust me it helps. I have fibro too, and since I started dragging my behind to the gym for weights, it's greatly improved. Do what you can, but do it regularly, even when you think you can't.

HI WILDFIRE!!!

They took the big bandage off yesterday (YAY!! IT WAS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!) I am now wearing a very small splint with a gel pad. It protects the stitches and partially prevents me from bending my wrist. But I have a LOT more use of my fingers now!! I can take a shower without putting my hand in a bag, but I'm not supposed to soak it (NO DISHES STILL!!!) The incision was slightly larger than expected, but not too bad. As well as the 2 nerves I had a 2 to 3 inch piece of spare tendon which was doing nothing (except causing scar tissue on the nerves!) so they took it out. The stitches come out next Monday and then I can drive again.

Thanks for all the love and support everyone!!

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you celebrating, and Happy Day to everyone else!!!

Hey girls! I don't know how long it's been since I was here last. I finally got a new job back in April. The grass is NOT always greener. A couple/few months ago I chucked my scale, tossed the diets, and started eating sensibly...good food, no deprivation...and started hauling my hiney to the gym. I feel SO much better not obsessing over a diet. I'm getting pumped...some muscley guy in the gym commented that I had "pipes", which I later found out meant he was admiring my biceps. I'm happy, feeling confident, and most of all...at peace with this.

Mauvais, I see congrats are in order on your new house! You must be thrilled! We are hoping to buy in the next year, too. Did you ever get that government job?

ellis, I think of you every time I see a bag of bridge mixture in the stores. How are you?

Den, I don't know what happened, but it sounds like you've been under the knife? Carpal tunnel? I hope your recovery is going well.

Hello to all you other Alternachicks...some of you I know, some of you are new.

Wildfire, sounds like you don't need us anymore.
I'm SO happy that things are going well for you in the food/exercise department! Isn't it wonderful when you finally "get it"? It suddenly seems so simple.

Den, that's great news about your wrist! What did they do with the spare tendon? Is that something you should be saving in a jar in case you need it when you're 80?

Squeak - most of the unpacking and decorating is done. We actually had our housewarming party on Saturday night - lots of fun!

We still have a little fine tuning to do - I need to give the hallway a second coat of paint, paint the front door and trim in the front hall and put up some more pictures and artwork but all in good time

Mauv,

It sounds like your new place is coming along nicely. I envy people that can move in and decorate a place nicely. I've been in my house for almost 5 years and still haven't gotten it decorated. Sigh!
