  • When I get over there I will lend them to you then - I just love British crime dramas
  • You can look through ours and borrow a bunch, too!
  • cool!
  • Do you guys watch any other types of brittish shows? we watched all that we could find of the "All creatures great and small" series and just sadly finished up "the darling buds of may" series. I really enjoyed both of them. Up next is " A touch of frost" I really like David Jason. I hope we enjoy it as much as the others.

finally saw Cold Mountain. It was very much a lot better than Cold Creek Manor. *LOL*
  • Lizzi, we've just rented, "Are You Being Served". A BBC comedy series.
We loved, "All Creatures Great and Small"!
  • ellis - me too. i was so sad when it was over. we have one dvd left of all their specials from christmas and stuff. we are waiting til christmastime to watch them to prolong it. We have been watching a lot of old favorites on DVD lately. I love old TV. I got the series "Freaks and Geeks" for my birthday, i loved that show was so sad when it was over. We are in the middle of "mellinium" right now and I just started "MY so called life" which i loved when i was a teen and am still enjoying, though not quite as much as before. *L* I love old shows on dvd.
  • Lizzi, I really enjoyed the James Herriot books.
Have you seen, "Some Mothers Do Have 'em"? Also a British comedy.

We've just rented a couple of seasons of "Soap". I used to love that show.
  • I love Coupling (as far as Brit shows).

Last weekend I saw Ghost in the Shell II: Innocence. Very good. Not as good as the first one. Way too mych CGI but you've got to love bad subtitle translations, "I'm handling this off you."
  • ellis - i haven't heard of that one before. I'll have to check it out if I can find it. I wonder if they have it on netflix.

Saw BattleRoyale2 last night. I thought it was meh. Not as good as the first one, and they had this theme of adults are evil and america is evil that was kind of weird. Was it done by a different person than the first one or something? It was still good but not as good as the first.
  • Saw Ladder 42 last nite. Heard everyone sniffling in the theater. Even saw some of the guys wiping their eyes. Fell in love with Jaquin Pheonix. Gotta love those fireman.
  • I always did like Jaquin Phoenix. He looks like he bulked up quite a bit for that movie. We saw the forgotten last night. it was good. not great, but good. I like julienne moore though.
  • Okay... my psychiatrist suggested I watch some sad movies to see how my emotions are faring with the meds I'm on. (I've been avoiding sad movies for YEARS!)
    Anyone have any suggestions?
  • Breakfast at Tiffany's - there is one scene in that movie that always makes me cry....

Try some old smaltzies like Casablanca, An Affair to Remember, to Kill a Mockingbird, Love Story.

Do you get cable? Just watch any episode of Extreme Makeover - House Edition, they pick families whose lives have been touched by tragedy and hardship and makeover their whole house for them. Just hearing about these families struggle, sniff, sniff and then the whole cast and crew is crying by the end WAH!!!!! Talk about a 3 hanky decorating show!

I saw The Forgotten on the weekend too, it was okay, not great - just okay.

I watched Legally Blonde on t.v. while I was sorting through boxes. It is not the kind of movie I usually watch but boy was it funny! There were a few great lines I would love to steal as smartass comebacks
  • Quote: (I've been avoiding sad movies for YEARS!)
How long? You’ve seen “Terms of endearment”, “Steel Magnolias” and “Fried Green Tomatoes”, right?
    (If not; you totally should!)
Newer movies: “Moulin Rouge”, “Boys on the Side” , “The English Patient”….
Hm. I like a good cry at the movies, but sad movies are really not my forte – I usually prefer sci-fi, action and comedy.
  • I agree with Mauv about home makeover...I cry thoroughout the entire thing, first about their story, than about their excitement and finally cause I am jealous and want my house made over!!!! (am I bad?)

One movie that always makes me cry is Armagedon and I have seen it a gazillion times
