LLS-Sorry to hear about your cousin's son; 24 is WAY too young. My thoughts are with you and the rest of your family. Glad you had a chance to get away or a while, even if it wasn't all fun. I'll have to check that book out...
Jessica-Yikes! Sounds like a heavy load!! HI BLUGRRL!! HI METTE!!! Ruthxxx-HI!!! Hey, at least you are staying under 200. I haven't been able to get there yet! I'm starting the pre-CTS surgery routine. New splints (MUCH lighter than the old ones I had), B vitamins, tests (GMT?)...wish I could get on with it!!! Ellis-YIKES! sounds like you are getting ORGANIZED!!! I'm trying, but it is an uphill battle here! The kids keep leaving things lying around!! I WANT SCHOOL TO START. DS14 is driving me nuts. I think he is nervous about starting high school so I am trying to be patient, but URRGGHH!!! Mette-Sorry to hear about your brother. Again, way too young. You are right, you never completely get over something like that. This morning I am going to see my psychiatrist (med check) and then picking up my 2nd splint WEE HAW!! Tomorrow my 14 year old goes for registration. Just hope that: a) he is teased less in high school, and b) he can start to pull it together academically. DH and I realized that he just DOESN'T GET how to go about studying, so we signed him up for Sylvan Learning Center. He is very bright, but unmotivated. DS17 GOT HIS HAIR CUT!!! So his senior pictures show him with shoulder length hair, and his hair is now SHORT!! One of his band mates saw him and asked, "WHY?" He is SICK OF HIGH SCHOOL!! Hope he can keep it up for one more year!! |

Jessica: what on earth (!) are you doing in a Geography lab?? Trying out different geographies?? Love that you’re taking both biological and cultural anthropology the same semester, that should really give you some interesting perspectives, huh? LLS: we don’t expect sympathies for going to school – I think we’re more used to being envied! :p There are a lot of people who would go back to school if they could, I've found! I, for one, feel very lucky that I get to study full time - Jessica; you have my sympathies for doing it while working full time! LLS: I’m very sorry to hear about your cousin’s son, hope you’re all doing well. I also hope everything goes well with your dog. Weight-wise, I lost 2lbs this week, and I’m just 1 pound away from the weight I want to maintain. So, as of today, I’m a maintainer and I’m going to maintain this weight for at least 9 months, while I continue weightlifting and jogging. I do love the idea that I will get to eat more, and gradually increase my calories from 1500 and up toward 2000 (hopefully)! By then I could have my 5 daily meals at 400 calories! A big “yey” for that! |
Just a fly by post. No new news on my cousin. Thank you all for teh thoughts/prayers/vibes. :)
However it has been a very busy few days, and it isn't going to let up until Friday I think. Both at home & work. :p I will try and pop in to at least read the posts. :grouphug: |
LLS , I am sorry to hear about the loss in your family. 24 is way too young. sorry to hear about your cockapoo. Birds can be such sweet feathered friends. Hope the beach was super relaxing!!!
Mette, that book on depression sounds right up my alley. how is it going? and a big congratulations for the weight loss and now maintainer status!!!! whoohoo you go girl!! jessica, good luck on all the classes. I am so enjoying my week off of school right now. couldn't have come at a better time. :) |
Hi everyone! I'm back from my holiday and I had a great time! Hooked up with all my con friends, made some new ones, bought some new games and got to play some new ones too. Brought back some cool fantasy artwork too. I had a blast just hanging out, playing games and going out with my friends. :cb:
I also got to meet David Carradine, Marc Singer from the tv series V (very good looking and very charming), Walter Koenig from Star Trek, Virginia Hay from Farscape, Ken Fore from Dawn of the Dead (also very charming and good looking - a new one for my top ten hottie list :faint: ) Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica, Gil Gerard from Buck Rogers and Herbert Jefferson Junior from Battlestar Galactica. Tanya Roberts was also there as well as Linda Blair but I didn't get a chance to meet them. All in all it was a great trip but I am glad to be home and sleeping in my own bed. I am off to catch up on all the past week's posts. :) |
Glad you are back and had a fun trip Mauvais. :)
|
:cb: Mauvais is back!!!! :)
guess we have to behave now... |
Hi Mauvais! So glad to have you back again, and how nice that you had a great vacation! Very cool that you got to meet David Carradine!
Heather – thanks for the congratulations. So far I’m enjoying eating more (! ;) ), and I’m trying to get used to the changes in my body. I don’t think my head has completely reached up with my body yet, or vise versa. I don’t always see the weight loss in the mirror. I mean, I know I’ve lost the weight – and I see it on the numbers on the scale, but I seem to see the same body in the mirror still. It’s one of the reasons why I lose weight in stages – so that I can get everything together (body and mind) when I spend time maintaining… :p You’ve lost a lot of weight too (according to your signature); do you have any problems like that? Anybody else? I’ve read about it in research articles about weight loss, and they called the phenomenon “phantom fat” – isn’t that a great name for it??? :D Quote:

WELCOME BACK MAUVAIS!!!!! Sounds like you had a BLAST!!
|
Yeah, it was fun! I got some of my pictures back today and for once I actually thought I looked good in a photo
Mette - I once weighed 135 lbs and thought I was fat - ha! Phantom Fat is a great one! |
Mette and Mauvais-I can relate COMPLETELY!! I thought I was fat when I was fine, thought I was obese when I was chubby, and now that I AM obese I think I am THINNER than I am!! (Until I see a picture or a reflection, then I am REALLY upset!!) I think the anti-deppresants have made me relax a bit TOO much about my weight.
|
I love Phantom Fat! :lol3: Great way to put it. :)
I am just hanging out at work waiting for a phone call. At least I get to be here in my pjs on the weekend. :) I am sitting in my cube with no lights on, half falling asleep. As soon as I get the call I get to go back home. Just been a busy week. One friend's birthday, mom's birthday, lots of work. I finally get a day to myself! No plans (except the hour I have to be at work). Just bum around the house and be anti-social. :D It has been a while since I got to do that. What are everyone else's plans for this weekend??? |
Phantom fat is such a great way to put it. I was at the Y swimming and flirting with this hot lifeguard and when I went into the locker room, I swear someone strapped a cushion onto the front of me!!! Blech! Oh well, I'm glad I act like I'm such a skinny thing, I might not have the confidence to flirt otherwise (The Cute Boyfriend says flirting is okay ;) )
I called my mom yesterday and she's going back to school! I am so proud of her. She's been a nurse (RN) for 18 years and she decided that she wanted to get her BSN. She's starting with a sociology class this semester to get her feet wet. She told me how proud she is of me and I was like, "Mom, I'm 28, it's just time that I got my act together." And she reminded me that she also went to school late in life (26 to get her RN). I guess it's heriditary! :) So, today I've got to decide on a photography project for this semester. I'm thinking "Dance in Motion." Trying to show the movement of dance instead of a still frame of a frozen dancer. Since I'm around dancers a lot, I thought this might be a good way to go. But I welcome any suggestions. I thought about doing it on food. Like record every picture for a month of what I ate for dinner... but some people might consider that obsessive. |
Jessica - Your photo ideas sound cool! I like the dinner one too.
I have gotten up and dragged my rear into work. I hate Mondays. I also hate insomnia. So I am rather sleepy still. I also have been accused of being snippy lately, which is in part true. I just don't have the patience for people who do not think things through, or act in a responsible manner, right now. So I am being snippy with someone who on a good day gets on my last nerve. I am not sure I care, only problem is I work with the person. I also need to get this whole diet thing down. I don't stick to defined plans well, so I am trying just a few small adjustments each week. This week is going to be bring my lunch to work at least twice, and taking my vitamins everyday. 2 things that seem simple, but I haven't been able to do yet. :p How/where is everyone? |
Tired and confused!! DS14 started high school today. (My BABY!! I feel OLD!!!) DS17 is NOT thrilled to be going back. He has senioritis already!!! I am trying to stay awake today so that I will have a decent night's sleep tonight.
|
Shouldn't you be in bed, Den?
|
YUP!! Didn't get to sleep until 3 am. YIKES!!!
|
Mid week check in. All is well here. I think I am going to be sick, and take a day off Friday. :D
How is high school going Den? hello chicks! |
Closing this thread to start the September one :)
