Default Extrinsic Rewards

Extrinsic Rewards are the material things that are given to you when you accomplish some goal.

A friend of mine said that she wanted to lose some weight before August 20th. I said, "me too." (I always say me too). So, we wagered that one of us could lose more weight than the other (unfortuately, we must bet on ourself to lose more weight ). However, we couldn't think of a wager!

She lives 3000 miles away so it can't be dinner or the loser wears a crazy outfit for the day. It can't even be that she cleans my house! So, what kind of wager can be motivating enough to cause competition.

The only thing I can think of is this: The loser puts $50 into a special savings account. And each month we repeat the bet for one year and at the end of that year the Grand Dame Super Turbo Ultimate Weightloss Winner gets the whole pot of $600.

So, help me out. What else would make a good extrinsic reward?

oh no no ladies!! i've read your posts, your profiles and this is far to tame ~laughing~ Jessica you just scream unsual and creative.........save the cash to the back exciting "think me ups" for each month ~nodnodnod~ here are a couple of ideas off the top of my head.... i am sure with some fine tuning and some tweeking this would be a blast!! i want a friend like that!! ~laughing~

running with the 12 month plan........and being a newlywed, i immediately thought of the anniversary thingies..... 1st year (month) Paper, 2nd Cotton, 3rd Leather, 4th is fruits ( but i have a different idea for that so dont do that one.~grinz n winks~) Flowers or Linen<~~ i opt for Linen, 5th Wood, 6th Sugary Sweets ( and unless this is an exotic dancer covered in choccie showing up at work or something........ oooo what a great half way mark...... i would again go for the second choice here ~laughing~) Iron, 7th Copper or Wool, 8th is Bronze, 9th Willow or Pottery, 10th aluminum or Tin, 11th Steel, and lastly but not leastly....... 12th Silk or Linen, but i would change linen to Satin. silk or satin, because after a year your fine svelte selves will deserve a slinky!! i am also assuming that you live on opposite sides of the USA which means there are unique items that you could get each other that you wouldnt be able to get in your own region. have fun and go whacky, wonderful and wow with this maybe using that 50 dollars as the base minimum on what you can spend for each month.

second idea emmerging from the dinner thought of yours but keeping with varying months. a nice dinner can be decadent, but its also counter-productive to all the hard work your doing. so naturally the "Of The Month" came to mind.........you know those mail order places that send you different goodies Of The Month. Well the winner of your Month gets a Fruit, the Loser gets a Vegetable, and you both have to come up with a recipe for your fruit or veggie and turn it into a TASTE SENSATION. then at the end of year the Loser ( doesnt sound right its a win win situation....) compiles all the recipes into a book for the both of you. this would be so special and a one of kind memory for you guys. try and toss in a few really abnormal or not so run of the mill eateroo's. ( different countries, nationalities....... seasonal) of if need be go to a web site store and see what their fruit / veggie of the month is and use that.

3rd idea...maybe you both were thinking of trying something new. a new work out, a class...... IE.... workouts could be..belly dancing, (any dance for that matter) jazzercise, water aerobics, horse back riding ~shudders~ a spinning class... or if you wanted to learn something new like a language, pottery, floral arranging, hang gliding..... again using the 50 dollar mark, surely that can buy one class, or at least an hour to see if something either of you would truely be interested in persuing.

i really really do love this gig.......... anyone want to be my friend??!!

sincerely,
sassy

awesome enough to step up Mauvaisroux?? ~laughing~ or maybe i should ask...... Mauvaisroux how bout youuuuuuuuuuuuu............ and me...... 1 month, starting today! July 20th thru August 20th.

now your prolly curious as to why i am asking you..... there is a completely sound reason i assure you ......... i been to Canada so many times, all the time. in fact one of my major firsts happened in Canada cant tell you what but it was fabulous!!! ~laughing~ anyhoo born in Detroit raised in and around the burbs.Canada wasnt even like another country. it was more like a cousin, an extension of our backyard another playground. the only diff we truely felt when we crossed the bridge or came out of the tunnel was....... our money went further ~laughing~ lets party!! so you see, it never occured to me to buy a souvineer. and now with me 5000 miles away i am sorry i didnt because................. i sooooooooo need a Canadian Mounty Moose for my *tacky stuff* shelf of places i have been!! so i gotta win! ~grinz n winks~ now on the off chance i dont win, think about a wonderful treasure hitting your mailbox from Austria ~smiling softly~ the land of Mozart and Brauhms, Mountains, crystals.....oooooo Swarovski Crystal Worlds..........there are so many wonderful things here i could offer you besides schnitzels and strudels ~laughing~ so what do you think? are you up for a wee challenge? jump start the old motivation again? i know i am ....... i could use a boost to my caboose ~laughing~

Jessica, not leaving you out babes...... but right now, the bestest thing i can think of that comes out of California is......... Carmel filled M & M'S!! ~grinz n blushes~ TOM is knocking at my door and a case of those would be absolutely Wundervoll right about now.....~laughing~

sincerely,
sassy

I would love to sassy but I am only 3 lbs from my WW goal so it wouldn't be fair

I will, however look for a Mountie Moose for you since I am from the Capital of Canada and I will get your address and mail him to you
